Thanksgiving pinecone turkeys are fun and cheap to make. If you do a lot of crafts, you probably have all of these supplies already. The only supply you will have to gather are the pinecones. Gathering the pinecones can be fun, and fall is the perfect time of year to find them.
Thanksgiving Pine Cone Turkey
Have the children cut and glue the construction paper together. The construction paper will serve as the back feathers of the turkey.
Make sure to have all of the fall colors to choose from.
Red, yellow, and brown are classic colors to choose from. Adding metallic foil will add more sparkle and interest to the craft.
The children will have fun choosing the right colors. They can draw feathers on for decoration.
Before the back feathers of the turkey are glued on, the children can take the pipe cleaners and wrap them around the pinecone to make legs.
They can also tie one pipe cleaner in the middle, to serve as a hook (so you can hang the turkeys).
Once the construction paper is dry, you can use the hot glue gun to glue the construction paper on the back of the pinecone.
Once finished you have a fun Thanksgiving decoration that cost pennies to make.
Collecting the pinecones can be a fun outing in and of itself.
Have your group collect the pinecones with you. They will get excited over which ones may, or may not, make good turkeys.
If a pinecone war breaks out, that is just a small price to pay for this fun craft idea.
