Add a touch of chic style to your Thanksgiving decor this year with these copper and cream drink buckets. Add ice and a variety of favorite glass bottled beverages to delight your holiday guests!
For this project, you will need (per drink bucket):
– One galvanized metal pail (in any size)
– Medium or fine grit sandpaper
– Tack cloth or other style soft cloth
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
– Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White
– Krylon Metallic Leafing Pen in Copper
– Computer with printer
– Craft knife
– Self healing mat
– Masking tape
– Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray
– Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
When starting this drink bucket project, first cover your work area with a few sheets of old newspaper and/or a large drop cloth. Remove the handle from the galvanized metal pail. Turn the pail upside down on the work area. Carefully sand any rough edges or spots on the metal with a sheet of medium or fine grit sandpaper. Wipe away any dust on the pail with a tack cloth or other similar style soft cloth.
Prime the outside and bottom of the galvanized pail using Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the primer set for about an hour before continuing. Add three to five coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in Dover White to the bucket. Let the paint dry for a few minutes between coats and then overnight.
Use a computer and word processing program to create a design that says “Give Thanks” in a fancy script. Print this lettering onto cardstock. Lay the cardstock sheet flat on a self healing mat. Use a craft knife to carefully cut out the wording. Discard the lettering cutouts, leaving a template pattern on the remaining cardstock.
Turn the painted galvanized pail right side up. Attach the cardstock piece to the side of the metal bucket using masking tape. Fill in the “Give Thanks” wording design using a Krylon Metallic Leafing Pen in Copper. Wait thirty minutes before adding a second coat of copper metallic paint. Dry overnight.
Remove the masking tape and cardstock. Turn the pail over. Spray the bottom and sides of your drink bucket using Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray. Dry completely before using.
TIP: This project also looks great when a Krylon Metallic Leafing Pen in Silver is used.
