Thanksgiving is the time of year to show off your dessert recipes. Traditionally, pumpkin pie is almost always on the Thanksgiving menu. This year, even if the family insist on pumpkin pie, add these desserts to the table and watch how they quickly are gobbled up.
Old Fashioned Cream Pie Dessert Recipe
Before beginning this dessert recipe either prepare a homemade pie crust or purchase an unbaked pie shell for a 9″ pie. Place unbaked pie shell into baking dish and set aside.
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups whipping cream (do not whip)
½ cup butter, melted
1/3 cup flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium sized bowl, add melted butter and flour. Blend together. Add brown sugar. Mix together thoroughly until well blended. Add cream and stir. Continue mixing on medium speed until all ingredients are well blended. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. Serve cool.
Thanksgiving Chocolate Whip Pie
Begin by preparing the crust for the pie. This recipe is terrific cool or frozen.
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons sugar
Mix all ingredients together and press into pie pan. Set aside.
8 large marshmallows
¼ cup milk
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
pinch of salt
Add all ingredients, except heavy cream, into a microwave safe bowl. Place in microwave. Heat at 30 second intervals. Stir. Continue heating and stirring until all ingredients are smooth. Cool. Whip heavy cream and fold into mixture. Pour into pie crust. Chill 2 hours. If pie will be served frozen, run knife under hot water before cutting pie to help slice more easily.
