The trees are impatient to let go of their leaves, red and gold. It is time for families to come together, young and old. Thanksgiving is here, the wait is over.
So much fuss for just one day. A time for good times to be re-lived. A time for bad times to go away. Laughter and fun, too much to eat. Get ready for Christmas, its just down the street.
So much to get ready, so much to do;something is always forgotten, but that makes a memory, too. The table is set, it is now time to share. The turkey is done with no time to spare. Everyone is seated, compliments fly. Everyone enjoys the Thanksgiving fare.
Coffee is brewing, now here’s the pie. Lets sit before the hearth and watch the warm embers die. Hugs and kisses and promises to call, open the door and let in FAll. The air is crisp as loved ones are leaving, night has come early, its that time of season.
So, put away the leftovers, finish the pie, put up your feet and rest your eyes. Relax while you can, if just for a minute. A rustle from the kitchen-someone is in it! More dishes to wash, again I must sweep. I love this day!
I wish it came every week!
