The message in God Calling today is about Jesus’ Name. It bids us to breathe His Name. To me, it conveys the message: Say Jesus’ Name until it becomes an ever present part of your consciousness. Say it until you are always aware of its power and of His presence. Say Jesus’ Name until that awareness comes as naturally as breathing.
Jesus’ Name is certainly my favorite name. I’m still practicing the awareness part. I’ve gotten better over the years. When I find myself in the midst of some turmoil and my thoughts are racing at a hundred miles an hour and I feel like I’m going to burst any second, I say, “Jesus.” It brings His Peace to me. “Jesus” causes beautiful clouds to appear and storm clouds to disappear. “Jesus” causes fear to flee and faith to rise. “Jesus” causes the Lord’s Peace to invade a situation. If you doubt its power, whisper His Name the next time you find yourself in a situation where someone is arguing. Watch how quickly His peace shows up and settles over, not only you, but the people arguing as well. You may also see them just suddenly leave. It works every time.
When we say, or even think His Name, it calls the Holy Spirit onto the scene. The Holy Spirit rises up in us and God’s power is set in motion, in us and in the situation. I’ve found over the years, that the times things get out of control are the times when I forget to speak that Name until it’s already too late. “Jesus” is like putting a key in the lock of a door that leads into a safe and quiet place-that strong tower of refuge in the midst of the chaos. His Name truly is wonderful.
