Many people like to bake Christmas cookies during the Holiday season but not everyone is a great baker. That is no problem as there are some classic Christmas cookies that are relatively easy to make and some you can even cheat your way through. Here are a few classics and how you can make them.
Peanut Butter Blossoms
Peanut Butter Blossoms are one of my favorite to make every year. They are very simple to make. If you can uncover some Hershey’s kisses and roll a simple dough in to a ball you can make these. The recipes is very close to a standard peanut butter cookie recipe, and peanut butter cookies are probably the simplest cookies. to make. You simple make the dough. Roll the dough in to meatball sized balles and place a kiss in the middle and bake them. You sprinkle granulated sugar on them and to make them even more holiday like you can use either red or green colored granulated sugar. I like to do about half and half of each color. Since this is an already popular recipe I will just provide you a link to the official recipe.
Iced Sugar Cookies
Iced Sugar Cookies cut in to shapes of stars, trees, reindeers, etc. have always been quite popular at Christmas time. However, I can not really classify them as easty to make. Making the dough is not hard but sometimes the dough can stick to the rolling pin and be hard to get out flat. This is one of those cookies that Pillsbury and other companies have made it really simple for you to do. In fact they actually sell already shaped cookie dough. All you have to do is pull the shaped pieces out of the dough and ice them and decorate them. This is a good cookie making activity for the kids to do. I just took some regular premade vanilla cake icing and divided it up in to three different small bowls and used food coloring to make red, green, and yellow icing. We also used sprinkles as well to decorate the cookies. They turned out nice and truly tasted delicious. I told you it was easy.
Almond Crescent Cookies
These fancy looking and fancy tasting cookies are deceptively easy. The dough is a very easy one to make and If you can roll a ball and make that ball in to a crecsent shape you can easily make these. The best thing is people will be really impressed that you made these. They don’t have to know how simple they actually were to make.
Here is a very good recipe for Almond Crescent Cookies:
Holiday M&M Cookies
If you can make chocolate chip cookies you can make M&M cookies. Basically replace the chocolate chips with M & M’s. To make these a holiday treat all you need to do is use just red and green M&M’s. They are actually sold that way during the Christmas season.
Snickerdoodles are really good cookies, they have kind of a cinnamon kick to them. They are also quite easy to make as the dough is fairly simple to make. Then all you do is roll them in to balls and then roll them in to some cinnamon and sugar and bake them.
Again since this is a classic recipe that is already widely posted I will just direct you to a good simple recipe:
If you look in the refrigerated premade dough section of your grocery store you can find some premade Snickerdoodle dough. To make it look more like you totally made them your self be sure to sprinkle the premade dough with some cinnamon and sugar before baking.
These are 5 very classic and very simple cookies to make. Now you have no reason not to bake some Christmas cookies this year.
