Isaac Asimov’s science fiction realm of humanoid robots might be more science and less fiction than you think. I have followed the evolution of Honda’s robot ASIMO for many years now. If you haven’t already had your mind blown away by the technological genius of this little guy, then plug the keyword ASIMO into Google’s and YouTube’s search engines and prepare to be amazed. This thing can walk up stairs, run down hallways, dodge objects, carry on intelligent conversations and even make judgment calls. Honda Worldwide is sinking millions of dollars into this robot every year and the results are astonishing. What is even more interesting is that ASIMO is not the only humanoid robot in the industry. Toyota has developed a robot that can play the violin. Sony has developed a whole line of robots that dance together. Other companies have developed robots that fold laundry, ride bicycles and assist in medical facilities. There are even robots out there that are performing complex surgical procedures with textbook accuracy. These guys are redefining the way that we do things and I believe that there is a lot more to come.
Shift your focus for a moment to the next wave of this amazing evolution: life like sex dolls. Direct your browser to Real Dolls Dot Com and prepare to be amazed. Feast your eyes on the magnificent beauty of a woman who isn’t really a woman. These are extremely life like replicas of real woman complete with PVC skeletons, stainless steel joints and silicone skin molded to astonishing human likenesses. They even carry the same weight as real humans. The website gives you specific instructions on how to move them around without causing harm to yourself or your doll. Unfortunately, Real Dolls cannot support their own weight without human intervention, but wait until the robotic components have been installed.
It would be fairly easy to combine these two technologies. Can you imagine the outcome of stretching the silicon mold of a Real Doll over a thinner version of ASIMO or better yet, inserting the robotic components of ASIMO into a Real Doll? Semi-autonomous robots are already being employed to save lives and manage situations that are much too dangerous for humans. Think about the possibilities of fully autonomous robots that look and act like human beings. It would reshape the world as we know it. I mean come on! Who wouldn’t want a “fully functional” robot girlfriend or boyfriend? Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.
