When I awoke this morning with the thought of sitting down to my trusty old PC and cranking out a title or two, I discovered that not a thought at all came to my head. When I listened hard for thoughts of inspiration from within, I heard, crickets chirping…
So, without further adieu, I decided to head on down to the friendly “Idea Depot,” the happening spot where all AC content contributors pick up their best new article ideas. The place was jam packed full! I saw many familiar faces, for which I would have never fathomed difficulty conceiving article ideas! I saw Old AC’ers, Pioneer AC’ers, Seasoned AC’ers, and Newbie AC’ers!
Abby Greenhill was on Aisle One, Travel. She was shoving information in her buggy. Gayle Crabtree was hot on her trail. I guess they were fighting over “dibbs” to the hottest places to go!
I myself have never really been many places, so I decided to keep shopping. What I happened upon next was a bit disturbing. On the corner of “politics” and “controversy” both Donald Pennington and Tony Jingo had their hands on a juicy political item. Neither seemed to be letting go. “This could get ugly!” I thought to myself and hurried on to see what else I could find.
I felt a little knawing pain. I had forgotten to eat! Luckily, I found a comfy little coffee shop smack dab in the middle of the “Idea Depot.” I sat down with a croissant and a cup of java. Wow, I could feel the tension melting away! I closed my eyes to savor the flavor. When I opened them, Nancy Canfield was sitting across from me shoveling in some jelly donuts. In between bites, she told me, she was really in need of “no new ideas” as she was full of them! She just brought in her wit, to get it sharpened a bit…
I was feeling quite refreshed after my jaunt at the coffee shop, so I continued shopping. Nothing seemed to just reach out and grab me, you know? Then, something did! It was Cathy Montville! She wanted me to give her a hand loaded up some great new wines in her buggy she wanted to review! I obliged and she was on her way (although her buggy seemed to weave a bit from side to side…)
I was feeling a bit discombobulated. “I am getting nowhere!” I said aloud, rounding my buggy down the aisle of wisdom. There I found Carl Benjamin stocking up. He offered me a bit of wisdom, as he has an abundance. He told me he spreads this throughout all his articles. I decided to accept and put a bit in my buggy. What harm could a little wisdom do?
Next, I saw Lyn Lomasi and Jaipi Sixbear. They were on the dairy isle and each put a jug of “the milk of human kindness” in their buggies. So that’s where they get that from!!
Down the feelings isle, Magena Fawn found a two-for-one and said this was just what she needed for her new relationship series. I still can’t figure out what all that baloney and peanut butter was for though!
I saw Jenny Heart and Cindy Tuttle down the sweets isle. Nobody is sweeter than these two! They gave me a smile and wave as they passed by.
Deciding to check out with only my bit of wisdom, I rounded the isle of the “absurd and obscene.” Frank Mucci was chuckling at something in a magazine. Although I couldn’t quite make out the title on the cover…I tripped over a bit of drool on the floor and Dr. David Reinstein helped me to my feet. He told me I would eventually get over this trauma, but it may take a little therapy.
Maria Roth and Theresa Wiza were offering both hope and inspiration. I took advantage of their offer. I have found them to be great sources of both things in the past! They patted me on the shoulder and told me to “hang tough!”
I was exhausted by the time I finally made the checkout aisle. I tried to go through the “speedy” line since I only had an item or two. Tom Lund kept yelling and pointing “Squirrel!” When everyone looked, he went ahead of them in the line! Mike Hatz and Randy Inman both saw what a distrubance this was causing and had had enough! They each grabbed him by the elbows and escorted him to the door.
Whew! I finally made it through the checkout line. As I left, I had to sign a consent form from Randy Barefoot, who was on location there. He said his film might be featured on YouTube! Go figure!!
Next time I am running low on ideas, I think I may just plant my own garden and use some “home-grown” ones. After all, fresh ideas are always the best!
