After being in the dark for 7 long years, Apple and iTunes have just announced that The Beatles will now be available to download from the ITunes store.
For 7 years Steve Jobs and Apple have wanted to have the entire catalog in their iTunes store, but they have always been blocked by Yoko Ono. The deal to bring The Beatles to ITunes was finalized last week
From today you will be able to purchase the entire Beatles catalog for $149. That price includes all songs, iTunes LP content and videos for you to watch. It will be interesting to see just how popular the Beatles will become again, now that their music is available to download from the largest music store in the United States. I am sure there will be a lot of interest.
The Beatles were originally from Liverpool in England, and during the 1960s they revolutionized music, with a sound that had never been heard before. It did not take long for Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison to be global superstars.
The Beatles had a staggering 20 number 1 hits in the United States and 17 in the UK. The crazy thing is that the Beatles only released albums and songs in the United States for 6 years, which means they averaged 3, number 1 hits every year.
The Beatles broke up in 1970 after the band had several fall outs. One of the main reasons is rumored to be Yoko Ono. It is believed she persuaded John Lennon to leave the band. All 4 members of The Beatles went on to have successful solo careers. One of the biggest events that will always be linked to the band was the murder of John Lennon in 1980, outside of his New York home.
The Beatles will always be global superstars, they changed music forever and many of their songs are considered to be timeless classics. They single handedly changed the world of music forever. They will always be remembered, and I’m sure now, that their music will find its way on to many IPods and Iphones in the very near future.
