Where to watch soccer games in the city, local, national and international games?
The 2010 World Cup has ended, however I found a few great spots to go watch the games for the next Cup in the city of Houston, or any soccer games for that matter, where the atmosphere is enthusiastic and loud when a goal is scored, and one or better yet more televisions.
Richmond Arms is definitely one of my favorites as it gets pretty crowded with fans and the atmosphere is almost like being in a (smaller stadium), but the only suggestion is to get there early as they will not let people in once the occupancy number has reached. If you are lucky to get in you can sit outside or inside in the middle of the pub where there are chairs and plasma Televisions.
Sams Boat is the next best option to Richmond Arms, especially if you were not able to get in, you can walk over here from there and not miss any of the game action. The fans are more tame here and not as rowdy but they do have plenty of Televisions and they have good burgers and average drinks.
The Bull and Bear is a sports bar in the west side of town where it is a great venue to see the games, they have normal television on either side of the pub and the atmosphere is great as there is excitement and this is also a great place to bring the whole family to watch the game.
Frikin and Phoenix is a nice pub in the Montrose area that also features the World Cup games, and here you will find both soccer and non soccer fans coming together.
Dona Tere Mexican Restaurant is a great place to watch the Mexican and South American teams while enjoying their great coffee and maybe with chilaquiles or tamales.
Sawyer Park is a pub in the popular Heights area in the Washington strip, and even though they do have a special room if you like, but the best part to get into the excitement of the games is to stay in the main room.
Ello’s Lounge is located inside the galleria and has the best plasma TV’s and they have normal size television all over the place, the atmosphere is quiet because people do not know about it yet, however for the final game it was packed.
