LookatOKC’s “Night Owl”-columnist Lacey Lett (also co-host of a local music show on 105.3 FM “The Spy”) gave LookatOKC-readers an article on the recent boost in the world’s ‘cougar’-population (that’s not the jungle-bred middle-school mascot, but rather the 40-something woman that seeks early-20-something men).
The point of the article seemed to be that ‘there are cougars (by which I include manthers & pumas – older men seeking younger women, & cougars in their 30s, respectively) out there looking for cubs (their young partners), and cougar-hood now seems to be a caste that is growing in popularity’; or-in other words-‘it’s okay to be a cougar!’
(Not naming any names, I know one guy who is a bit of a ‘cub’-leaving me to wonder if he is not now cursed to be a ‘manther’ when he is of the proper age.
(I say ‘a bit of a cub’ because he doesn’t have access to the transportation needed to play the part of ‘bait’ in the cougar’s feeding-grounds-feeding grounds to which Lacey Lett directs young twenty-somethings who feel the need to ‘get caught.’)
So I don’t mean to offend people who choose to play roles in that ‘animal theater’-‘nature’ calls us all to be savage beasts at times (though most people are civilized enough to keep it out of the public arena), and it’s very tempting to suppose that ‘the higher call’ can wait while we satisfy the urge-but ‘something in the back of my mind’ (which sounds a lot like ‘some of my friends from Bible-study’) says that “cougars & cubs” are a ‘gateway sin,’ only a few steps away from the perverted practices that made “Sodom & Gomorrah” so infamous.
