Ah, yes humiliation! Let’s face it; we’ve all been there at one time or another. And so was the underlying theme on Sunday’s episode of “Desperate Housewives”. In fact, the show began with Bree and her hot young beau, Keith, rollerblading through the park on a beautiful afternoon. Suddenly, Bree takes a spill, overheats and passes out, only to be told by a female medic that she is clearly entering menopause, a fact she immediately conceals from Keith. But even more humiliation ensues for poor Bree when a dinner date with Keith and his parents takes a hilarious twist. It turns out that Keith’s mom is Bree’s gynecologist to whom she just recently paid a visit! This revelation sends Bree right into the throws of another raging hot flash, causing her to finally reveal her menopausal condition to Keith and everyone else in the restaurant for that matter.
And, as if doing housework in her undies on a webcam wasn’t humiliating enough, Susan has her own bout with embarrassment. It all starts when Lynette and Renee decide to open an interior decorating business. They invite Susan to join the venture, but only as a nanny to Lynette’s baby. Susan misinterprets the invitation, believing she will be a partner in the home decorating company. When she finds out her new job will actually be changing diapers and cleaning bottles, she has a heart to heart with Lynette and reluctantly accepts the position. She realizes that with Mike in Alaska and bill collectors at her door, she really has no other choice. However, Susan’s art expertise does come in handy when she interjects her opinion during a meeting with a client. Maybe Susan does have a future in interior design…..
Meanwhile, Gabby is somewhat humiliated herself after believing her gay neighbor Bob is trying to “flip” Carlos. Apparently Bob has a reputation for turning totally straight men gay. Gabby truly feels that Bob has a major “man crush” on her hubby, especially after they plan a weekend getaway together. Gabby is humiliated after confronting Bob, but, as usual, redeems herself by reuniting him with his ex-lover Lee. By the way, one of the best quotes of the night was when Gabby asked Lee to use the back door and he replied, “I always do.”
And on the dark side of Wisteria Lane, perhaps Paul is about to be humiliated and betrayed even, by his new bride Beth, who, it just so happens, is the niece of the woman Paul murdered many years ago.
