Astrology lends understanding of seasonal changes, and any way you look at it, the Autumnal Equinox is easily translated into a spiritual vein.. For centuries, it has been a way to recognize the blessing of life.
Before the days of supermarkets, and the convenience of readily available food, life was hard. People farmed the land and provided sustenance for themselves.
Weather, as always, has often been unpredictable as one of the many events that could destroy an entire mainstay of existence. Other problems such as mass insect infestations may have left weary crop farmers wondering how they would survive. Another reason people on earth turned to astrology and the movements of celestial skies.
So it’s no wonder that when the harvest was bountiful, gratitude became important. Hence, many celebrations of thankfulness cropped up. These were heartfelt sources of joy.
But in the modern world what do we do? Do we say thank you for the grocery stores? Astrology is so commonplace, we can count on reading about the Autmnal Equinox just about anywhere.
Our meditations will be different, of course. We may not even see this time as much different than any other. But we are here thanks to our ancestors, and for this we can pay the same homage to the magic of the universe. Astology tracks the magic.
For Autumnal Equinox 2011
The plane of Earth’s orbit is changing and after the Equinox on September 22nd, the Moon will begin a display of stunning beauty, and will be looking larger than life. We will begin to see this bit by bit as the Earth’s elliptic changes and ushers all into the Autumnal Equinox.
This time of year is all about Libra. The balancing scales are symbolic in that night and day are considered equal on or around this time of year. Libra’s ruling planet is Venus. But the astrology sign of Libra is “exalted” in Saturn.
If there is any one sign that represents work, it is Saturn. The work involved in making life abundant is seen through the symbolism of the grim reaper. The grim reaper represents a death of sorts – and the astrology symbolism depicts the wintry bareness ahead.
The key word here is reaping.
What we may want to reap is more wisdom, or peace in the world, or in our own personal lives.
So on this day of September 23, 2011, take a moment of quiet or spend an evening focusing on the magic of life. Light symbolic candles to illuminate the the hoped for spiritual direction. Our personal happiness is just that, personal. Only the individual knows the innermost meanings of his or her own soul. Astrology leads the way to these meanings and many other answers about the universe. Regardless of astrology, the Autumnal Equinox is of importance on the earth plane in contemporary times and for everyone.
