That’s right, a new express bus service connecting DC to Brooklyn is up and running as of October 22nd. It is starting out as a “weekend service” running Friday through Monday, connecting Atlantic Terminal (Flatbush and Fourth Ave), right where Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Fort Greene, and Boerum Hill all meet, to U street in DC.
The route, informally called The Hipster Express, is aimed at “more the sort of folks who are interested in looking at things off the beaten path, interested in getting to know neighborhoods” rather than sightseeing the usual tourist spots.
The official name of the service is The Know It and it includes free Wifi, a “lap-top borrowing service,” and room for a limited number of bikes. The company also plans to add cross-promotional deals, reports TBD, like discounted meals and drinks on either end of the route.
The original plan was a DC to Brooklyn via Penn station route but after numerous customers complained, the company decided to cut out Manhattan and make it a straight DC-Brooklyn express, saying “people want to go to Brooklyn – we’re going to take you to Brooklyn.”
Fares are quite reasonable at $25 one way and $45 round trip. Check the website for more information or to buy tickets.
