Never before on a Halloween night has anyone received such a fatal fright as poor a young man named William Whitley. William lived in a isolated village and was summoned one October night by a telegram from the local doctor who also ran the funeral home. Upon arriving at the home he saw the doctor lying on a conveyor belt completely pale with his eyes rolled back. The youth cried out in terror upon discovering the body had a pulse and seeing that it was bound to a surface which was slowly moving towards a large furnace. He tried desperately to remove that which bound the doctor to the belt but with no success, the body continued forward slowly. Time seemingly stood still as William began to hack at the bonds with his knife while feeling the intense heat steadily increase as he grew nearer to the large furnace. His fear increased for he knew that he didn’t have time to remove the doctor’s restraints and the ticking of the large grandfather clock in the corner only increased his unbearable terror. In last attempt to rescue the doctor from early cremation he flung a bucket of water in the furnace but like the fire of Greeks it only grew larger and hotter. The whole room was becoming blurry and the heat was causing such extreme fatigue it began to overcome his adrenaline. Insanity overtook him suddenly and he screamed madly as he felt his heart rate steadily increase till it felt like it would bursts. Just when he perceived the doctor was about to enter the furnace the conveyor belt stopped . The doctor then raised his head as much as he could and smiled cruelly with the ghastly appearance of a haunting spirit. Will’s terror became too great and instead of feeling relief for the doctor his heart stopped and he fell into uncontrollable convulsion. He then perished of a heart attack on the spot in front of his own physician. To the doctors dismay he was still bound to the table which made him unable to revive Will despite that being his profession. The sick joke ruined the doctor’s reputation and given the suspicious circumstances of William Whitley’s demise the doctor was arrested and sentenced to hang from the neck until dead. He left this world muttering curses and detested by all who knew him until he went limp. Of all the cruel pranks played out on October 31st, this was without a doubt the very worst.
