Do you usually bring a cut tree inside the house? Here’s something to try this year. Plant a tree outside and decorate with edible ornaments and enjoy your living tree for years to come. Here is a Holiday Christmas Tree poem and some decorating ideas for outdoor living tree decorations. Why not plant and decorate an outdoor Christmas Tree this year? The Living Christmas Tree poetry.
My outdoor Christmas Tree,
I will not cut you down.
I’ll leave you in the land
with roots right in the ground;
white snow cover in between.
I’ll decorate with popcorn strands
then sit to watch
as feathered, furry living things,
elated, climb and land
come to rest next to old nests
found in the Evergreen,
adorned with ornaments to feed:
unpainted gourds and nuts on strings,
dried orange halves filled with seed.
The lights are stars
and birds are caroling;
just listen to the songs they sing!
As they rejoice
their home still stands,
thanks to the skies and whoever created
this peaceful woodland scene.
Did you know? American Holly and Eastern Red Cedar can provide food and shelter for birds and add beauty to your yard.
