Let’s remember how things were back in November of 2002–and we can because former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill squealed on W and it was all documented for us in the book, ” The Price of Loyalty ,” authored by Ron Suskind. Suskind’s book was most notable for how it documents that before 9/11 Cheney was talking W into attacking Iraq .
Suskind’s book also dealt with how W dealt with Paul O’Neill and others regarding the US economy. Suskind had a nearly verbatim transcript of a. November 2002 meeting at the White House of the economic team.in which the dunce in chief-bush 43 said “Haven’t we already given money to rich people? This second tax cut’s gonna do it again. Didn’t we already, why are we doing it again? shouldn’t we be giving money to the middle?”
Did W in this meeting have a spine? Would he be the “Decider in Chief” and follow his gut like he allegedly did when sending us to war in Iraq ? No, “Turd Blossom” easily swayed him. Karl Rove said to W, a kind of mantra. Stick to principle. Stick to principle. He says it over and over again, says Suskind. Don’t waver.”
Every day people realized that they were indecisive and get upset with themselves for that character failing, but with W it was different. He is a loser and he always has to have whipping boys and when W realized that the decision made regarding the second tax cut wasn’t his someone had to be singled out for punishment. The spoiled brat W couldn’t let his ambivalence bother his conscience. Paul O’Neill was sacrificed. W was a weasel so how did O’Neill get booted? Nine days after that meeting in which O’Neill made it clear he could not publicly support another tax cut, the vice president called and asked him to resign.
Cheney knows about hidden agendas and tax cuts for the rich have an ulterior motive. Tax cuts cause there to be no revenue for the US government to provide us with a social safety net. You hear the Tea Partiers say that they hate Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and would never accept their benefits–while doing so, as was the case with Joe Miller, Sarah Palin’s hand-picked candidate for Alaska. GOP ghouls love to talk about ownership society–expanding private ownership through more tax cuts on capital investments, tax credits for saving and privatized Social Security. Bush 41 droned on about “Thousand Point of Lights” and his lying moronic son tried to sell us on “Compassionate Conservatism”. They are just scams to defund all of the programs which work with nothing and then hope that the people without aid will just die quickly. Remember how that phrase became famous by Florida Congressman Alan Grayson ?
So, who put this tax cut for the rich trap in play? The same ogre who ruined the US ‘ status in the international stage.
Whose act caused the US to add a projected $830 billion to the US deficit if this current bunch of GOP stooges can coerce Obama and the Democrats to extend the tax cuts for the top 2%?
The article ” Dick Cheney Brags That The Bush Tax Cuts ‘Passed By A Single Vote – My Vote’ notes that ” Unless Congress acts by the end of next month, the Bush tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003 are set to expire, with the tax code essentially reverting to where it was under President Bill Clinton. While Democrats and President Obama have said that they want to preserve the tax cuts for the middle-class – saving $830 billion over ten years by allowing the cuts to expire for the richest two percent of Americans – Republicans have steadfastly refused to consider anything but an across-the-board extension.
The expiration of the Bush tax cuts was put into law to mask their long-term cost, and so that they could pass under budget reconciliation rules (and thus not be subjected to a filibuster). Even so, the second round of tax cuts – the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 – barely scraped by in the Senate.
After a tied 50-50 vote, Vice-President Dick Cheney cast the deciding aye to move the Bush tax cuts forward. And in a segment of Brit Hume’s six-hour documentary , The Right, All Along: The Rise, Fall & Future of Conservatism, which aired on Fox News this weekend, Cheney brags about how his vote was the culmination of a 30 year push to put supply-side economic theory into practice:
I became a believer. If you fast-forward, in 2003, where we cut the capital gains rate, the rate on interest, did the across-the-board cuts in the income tax, and passed by a single vote. My vote.”
So his vote has ruined the US economy and with his role in using a fraud-Ahmad Chalibi-who the CIA dropped from its payroll due to the fact that Chalibi’s group, the INC, provided intelligence that the CIA said was mostly propaganda –telling the Defense Department what they wanted to hear, to lie us into the Iraq War and with his crony Scooter Libby revealing a covert agent’s identity you get the picture of Cheney’s vile soul.
His lies that got us into the Iraq War caused the US 4,287 casualties and 30,182 wounded. Blowing up Joe Wilson’s wife’s network caused casualties and ironically she dealt with WMD, the specific threat that W and Cheney allegedly were focused on. Who could ever tally up how many elderly or ill people without money for medicine who died or suffered an injury, or how many families were destroyed by Cheney’s vote to give his cronies a tax cut?
The article states “But looking at the facts distorts that pretty picture. First, following the Bush tax cuts, the country “registered the weakest jobs and income growth in the post-war period.
Overall monthly job growth was the worst of any cycle since at least February 1945, and household income growth was negative for the first cycle since tracking began in 1967. Women reversed employment gains of previous cycles. And for African Americans, the worst job growth on record was matched by an unprecedented increase in poverty.”
That’s Cheney’s legacy to the US economy. What does he care as long as his cronies and backers got an extra tax cut, but fellow GOP politicians are disgusted as the article states “Yesterday, David Stockman, budget director under President Reagan, blasted the Republican party for creating a ” theology ” regarding tax cuts. “After 1985, the Republican Party adopted the idea that tax cuts can solve the whole problem , and that therefore in the future, deficits didn’t matter and tax cuts would be the solution of first, second, and third resort,” Stockman said. Indeed, it was Cheney himself who allegedly claimed that ” deficits don’t matter .”
The Tea Partiers platform was slashing government and reducing the deficit. The GOP doesn’t believe in reducing the Homeland Security and Military budgets. What is left other than the US social safety net?
So, how will the current adherents of Cheney’s vile policies conduct themselves with their hold on the House of Representatives? We have an idea as for some reason the Washington Post allowed the GOP misinformation masters-Boehner and McConnell, use their paper as a propaganda tool as the article “Where we and Democrats can work together” can only be read with a hypocrisy decoding ring.
Look at this expletive deleted duplicity as the article states “Republicans heard the voters loud and clear. They want us to focus on preventing a tax hike on every taxpayer, reining in Washington spending and making it easier for employers to start hiring again. Today, Republican leaders renew our offer to work with anyone, from either party, who is ready to focus on the priorities of the American people.”
GOP propagandists are saying that they won so convincingly that they have a mandate. In fact, in only four mid-term elections since 1900 has the party in control of the White House gained congressional seats (they were mid-term elections in 1902, 1934,1998 and 2002). In the past 17 midterm elections, the president’s party has lost an average 28 seats in the House, and an average 4 seats in the Senate. Take away the fact that the election gave the GOP only the House. In US history party out control has always won both chambers prior to this underwhelming GOP victory.
But how can Boehner and McConnell say they “heard the voters loud and clear”. What was the GOP platform? The article ” Just What Kind of Party Won’t Divulge Their Platform 5 Weeks Before an Election?” clearly explained that the GOP intentionally planned to conceal their platform as does CNN Poll: Election not a mandate for GOP.
In this free advertisement for GOP thugs Boehner and McConnell are clearly then laying out what they think will help them in their quest for a permanent GOP majority. They write as the Washington Post article states “Despite what some Democrats in Congress have suggested, voters did not signal they wanted more cooperation on the Democrats’ big-government policies that most Americans oppose. On the contrary, they want both parties to work together on policies that will help create the conditions for private-sector job growth. They want us to stop the spending binge, cut the deficit and send a clear message on taxes and regulations so small businesses can start hiring again.”
When Boehner and McConnell write “help create the conditions for private-sector job growth” that means a return to tax cut for the rich and ‘Trickle down”– the failed policies that got us into this mess.
When Boehner and McConnell write “stop the spending binge, cut the deficit” that is code for defunding the US social safety net which will cut the deficit, but which will also cause our poor, weak and ill to suffer horribly.
Let’s think about one thing when we see Boehner and McConnell write “Indeed, their actual legislative plan for the rest of the lame-duck session is to focus on anything but jobs.” That is supposed to be a condemnation of what the Democrats want to do in the lame-duck session. What did the GOP thugs do in an earlier lame-duck session? They impeached President Clinton. I don’t the Democrats plan is as vile as that.
The GOP can’t even allege they care for the common masses. If they did they wouldn’t let unemployment benefits run out!
How can the red staters be so ignorant? They clearly are sheep willingly marching themselves off a cliff? Don’t they remember 43’s attempt to privatize Social Security? W’s drive to privatize Social Security would have had disastrous consequences for Americans’ retirement funds. A January 2009 Center for American Progress Action Fund report found that if a worker had retired on October 1, 2008 after 35 years of contributions to private retirement accounts, that retiree would have lost nearly $30,000 in retirement funds because of the downturn in the stock market over the last two years. The only people who would have made a profit were W’s blue-blooded cronies in the stock market-and every scam of theirs always has some fat cats fleecing the poor. This disaster for many for the benefit of the privileged few was all entirely predictable and is a perfect example of how little these GOP ghouls care for the bottom 99%!
The idea of an ownership society is just stupid with our troubled economy. The GOP rhetoric assumes most Americans can save and invest. The reality is, most Americans are deep in debt. Before they can join the “Ownership Society” they’ve got to pay their credit card bills, their rising variable-rate mortgages and their auto loans. After that, there’s no money left because jobs are in short supply and wages are stuck in the mud.
The ownership society and tax cuts for the rich are interrelated GOP scams. They want those not in the top 1% to believe that they can become fat cats also if they are never taxed and allow the weak, weary and unskilled to fall to the wayside. The truth for the Cheneys and others of his ilk is elusive about achieving the “American Dream” as Chalibi’s lies were regarding Iraq. Wealth hasn’t moved in the US after W at all. The poor just get poorer and the Cheneys of the world constantly lie to them. The soulless oligarchs laugh at their victims all the way to the bank.
