There are so many crime shows on television that it is difficult to find one that has new, inventive ways of killing victims. The woman who was killed in a self-cleaning public restroom on “CSI NY” was one of the most unique murders until ABC launched its new crime show “Castle”. The show follows a mystery writer, Rick Castle, as he follows NYPD detective, Kate Beckett, as she solves murders in New York City. The concept for the show was brilliant, fresh and new but the scenarios the writers find for killing off people keep getting better and better each week. Some of the best examples include (do not worry the ending is not revealed for those of you who have not seen the episodes):
Almost Famous (Season 3, Episode 7 – aired 11/1/10) – Beckett is called to the scene where an officer has been shot – very sad but ordinary crime. Wait, the police uniform is a tear-away strippers costume and his gun is filled with tequila. Beckett and Castle must investigate how the young stripper ended up on the wrong end of a very real gun. When they visit the strip club where the victim danced, we see an entirely new side of Beckett as we watch Castle squirm when the male strippers perform.
Punked (Season 3, Episode 4 – aired 10/11/10) – A dead man in the park shot to death and left in his underwear. Again, tragic but nothing to peak interest until tests on the bullet reveal that it is 200 years old. Immediately, Castle jumps on the theory of a time-traveling killer because, after all, the victim did drive a DeLorean. The investigation leads to a steampunk, which according to Castle is a subculture that embraces the simplicity of the past as they couple it with the coolness of futuristic design. Whatever that means, the underground club is fascinating the twists keep you guessing until the credits.
A Deadly Affair (Season 3, Episode 1 – aired 9/20/10) – This episode has Castle on the other side of the interrogation table. The opening for Season 3 leaves us wondering if Castle will be back investigating crimes as we see Beckett on the trail of a killer. When Beckett, Ryan and Esposito go to check out an address they find a man standing over a woman’s body holding a gun. Welcome back Castle! During this season opener, Castle is again found over a dead body – – what is the deal? If you missed this episode, you really should watch it right now.
