A firestorm of apocalyptic expectation has swept over America in the wake of overwhelming publicity about the enigmatic Mayan calendar date – December 21,2012. Little did John M. Jenkins, realize that his 1998 book, “Maya Cosmogenesis,” would become the origin of so many theories and predictions spread by the profiteers of mis-information.
For years many authors have attempted to mystify the Mayan civilization and its cosmology. This was the spark that ignited the flame of opportunism for spin doctors to reap a bounty from the public’s fears and anxieties about the future. Predicting the future is the highest form of charlatanism, which can only thrive from the lack of knowledge. It is this lack that has allowed mis-informants to publicize their own concepts as to the meaning of : December 21,2012.
All manner of these postulations, such as: “Wide Spread Catastrophe,” “True Balance Between Divine Feminine and Masculine,” “Change in the Nature of Consciousness,” “a Nostradamus prediction,” even the famous old favorite,”Judgment Day,” have fanned the flames of speculation of what will happen at that ominous moment in time.
Scientific evidence copiously presented on the internet show the astronomical implications of the date: December 21, 2012. The most pronounced happening associated with that day and known to every astronomer is the phenomenon called the: “Libration of the Planes of the Ecliptic and the Earth’s Equator,” when the Sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way. This perplexing event happens every 26,000 years, caused by the wobbling of the Earth’s Axis, called the: Precession of the Equinox. The theories about what will happen pale into insignificance when facts reveal that the Mayan calendar does not end of, December 21,2012, but is the termination of a long astronomical period or era, at which point another era of that same length will commence anew.
Unknown in the Western World is that the Mayan calendar was not the product of their culture, but originated thousands of miles to the West in the lands north of India. Seven to Eight millennia ago the: Precession of the Equinox, had been discovered by a mysterious society who had developed a system of Cycles from that phenomenon. This system passed into North America and then to Central America. Eventually, another shorter system of cycles was developed around the 4th millennium B.C. that became the foundation of all religious worship whether it be: Buddhist, Christian or Islamic. The knowledge of these systems was hidden by the Catholic church, then gradually forgotten, but it has now been resurrected by this author.
