Three of the actors that star on the popular prime time television show Glee recently posed for a GQ photoshoot. Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith & Lea Michele are all adults who happen to play teenage roles on Glee. Parents were furious to see Quinn, Finn and Rachel on the cover of a magazine that is geared towards adult men. You can view the GQ photos here. The always opinionated Parents Television Council has released the following statement.
PTC President Tim Winter said, “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia. Sadly, this is just the latest example of the overt sexualization of young girls in entertainment.”
Jim Nelson, editor in chief of GQ, responded in this statement,
“The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy. As often happens in Hollywood, these ‘kids’ are in their twenties. Cory Monteith’s almost 30! I think they’re old enough to do what they want.”
The Parents Television Council recently slammed the “Glee” Britney Spears tribute episode for portraying singer Britney Spears as a role model.
