I’m a man who likes structure, schedule, knowing what I’m supposed to do, and then doing it. When my days are filled with things to do, that’s when I’m most productive. My problem seems to come when I have blocks of free time, which is usually the weekends. This is when I find myself watching a little too much TV, or spending a questionable amount of time surfing the web. I desire to be more fruitful with the time God has given me. Have you heard the phrase, “Redeem the time?” Each moment is such a precious gift from God. And we will be held accountable for how we spent that time. Was it used victoriously for the Lord, or was is wasted on vain things?
Here is a list of things that I commonly do that will soon fade away:
– watch TV
– play on my iphone
– surf the web
Now, it’s important to note that those things aren’t necessarily bad in and of themselves. But am I being purposeful, directing all that I do unto the Lord as a conscience act of obedience to HIs word?
Our lives are short. Days go by quickly. Years will pass us by. Have you noticed that when you spend a day, or even a few hours, doing something meaningless, you often think to yourself, “why did I just do that?” On the other hand, when you’re living for the Lord, you may be tired, but you go to bed, thankful and filled with praises for God.
My encouragement to all believers in Christ, especially myself: live for the Lord. My encouragement to those who don’t know Christ in a personal and saving way, I invite you to read the word of God and see that Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except thru Christ.
Just one life to live
Live it fully for the One who made you
Live it joyfully for the One who saved you in Christ
Live it hopefully for the One you’ll see in Paradise
