Every election we voters are basically told who to vote for from the two major political parties the Democrats and Republicans. When in reality we voters have many more options than just Democrats and Republicans, in fact there are five political parties with major followings and a host of other smaller or localized independent political parties, from the Libertarian Party, to the Green Party even to the Tea Party.
Unfortunately once again, special interests have flooded our airwaves with commercials for the candidate that gives them the best chance at making more money; these candidates are never from a third party but always from the Democratic and Republican parties. The media needing ratings to bring in advertising dollars only cover third party candidates when they are schizophrenic or sensationalized by outrageous rhetoric and personalities, such as Sarah Palin.
The end result is a public uninformed and confused on which politician is going to represent their wants and needs, and usually this majority of uninformed voters end up voting only with the knowledge of a campaign slogan or some ill conceived facts found on a sensationalized political ad on television.
It’s our duty to inform our vote not just trust the two dominate political parties, the Democrats and Republicans who have failed the American people for the past 20 years. To help inform your vote I have broken down the other third party candidates in the race for Michigan Governor, if you really feel one of these candidates are better suited to lead our state out of the hole we are in, then you owe it to your country and your neighbor to vote accordingly and spread the word.
I know I will be voting for a third party candidate as I have lost all hope and support for the Democratic and Republican parties, who really are just two different sides of the same worthless coin.
Harley Mikkelson – Harley Mikkelson has been a Green Party candidate since 2002 where he ran for office for the first time after a life in pubic service. Mikkelson’s approach to fixing Michigan is based on key core Green Party ideas, sustainable energy and agriculture, something that has a direct and daily impact on every single voters life, and restructuring our economy to be more local based, creating jobs and enriching Michigan instead of China. Stacey Mathia – Stacey Mathia the U.S. Taxpayers Party candidate is a fiery option, a mother of four and not a career politician, Stacey believes in limiting government by cutting government spending and expansion, and reducing the overall size of government and the taxes it collects from the voters. I actually love the radical views of Stacey Mathia; any person associating themselves with the Tea Party should be supporting the Mathia campaign she is truly from the people and for the people. Even though I am a Progressive Democrat the views Stacey Mathia holds to improving Michigan could turn our state around in a positive way in the least amount of time. Ken Proctor – Ken Proctor is a member of the Libertarian Party since 1992, Proctor believes in a pretty simple formula, reduce government spending, reduce government incentives and programs and reduce government regulation. Ken also wants to rework the Michigan Business Tax which only benefits the few and causes most businesses to not want to do business in Michigan; Proctor is also for the Right to Work. Ken Proctor’s conservative platform is a perfect alternative for true conservatives who are fed up with major Republican Party, to learn more about the Ken Proctor campaign visit his website at, www.lpwm.org/KenProctor
