Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museums are found in several locations around the country.
Ripley’s is such a familiar name that you probably conjure up images of crazy monsters in faraway lands or shrunken heads, and you know what? You’re exactly right.
In Gatlinburg, Tennessee, there are several Ripley’s themed attractions in one area. You could actually spend the entire weekend just doing things and having fun doing what this franchise has to offer.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum is probably one of the most famous of all of these and might be one that you are going to visit on your trip to the mountains.
Ripley’s is located at 800 Parkway and has hundreds of permanent exhibits and displays from all over the world.
If you are going to be visiting the museum, please take at least an hour to complete this attraction.
The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The admission prices are as follows: adults and children who are 12 years of age and older are $14.99; children ages 6 through 11 are $7.99; and kids under the age of 5 are admitted for free.
The actual website, here, is actually pretty neat, too. It features information on the other Ripley’s attractions as well as a blog that is updated frequently. This blog has some pretty neat (and often gross) random information on it.
There are plenty of creepy and weird things to look at while at the museum, too.
Want to see a real shrunken head? How about some 2 headed animals?
You can even take your children’s picture as they sit in some really extraordinary items like a chair made from real gold or a chair made for torture.
Even if you are a local than this might be a really amazing place to take your kids. It’s not every day that you can see all the weird things they have in this non-traditional museum.
They also offer field trips and have special lower rates for students and their chaperones.
You can even have your child’s birthday party here as well. What a neat way for him or her to impress all their friends!
I am sure that this place might not be for everyone, but if you have children who like weird and gross things, than this might really be a place to take them for a day of fun.
While you are there you can also check out the other Ripley attractions and make fun for more than 1 afternoon while visiting Tennessee.
