So we have watched the 5th Roots DVD and actually kind of sad there is only one more left to watch as we are enjoying it so much. Of course there will then be the 4 disc to watch Roots the Next Generation! We have also been enjoying Bill the Exterminator and Man, Woman, Wild along with some of our food network shows we enjoy like Top Chef, Iron Chef and Chef vs. City.
Rock Band seems to still be a big hit with our son, adult daughter and hubby while our daughter while she will play Rock Band occasionally prefers listening to her favorite music on the radio or her music CD’s. She also made another salad this week all on her own to go with a dish I made for dinner.
We all went over to a friends yesterday and spent a few hours socializing over coffee while the kids played. We were there to borrow their trailer for scrapping but really got to enjoy some time visiting as well. Hubby caught a baby fence lizard while there the locals apparently call pine lizards due to their long leaf pine eco-system they tend to inhabit. Our son stayed there in order to spend a couple nights with his friend while the rest of us came home.
Getting home we prepared an empty aquarium we keep for observations of nature for and placed the baby fence lizard in it with a dish of water. Me and my daughter then got on the computer to research more about them and see the kind of things they eat. They are a dry scaled lizard that grows to be the largest lizard in our area up to 7 inches in length. They eat insects, spiders and other invertebrates. The females have dark black horizontal markings on their side where the males during breeding season in the spring will display bright blue on the bottoms of throat and belly areas. It appears we have a baby female, right now she is only about 1 and ½ inches long and just adorable! We will be working more on creating a natural habitat for her and searching for bugs in the yard today for her to eat.
Hubby and I have also taken a bit of time scrapping from a new power line area that is going in behind our property. This has involved hauling extremely heavy metal pieces from the areas they have been bulldozing. A couple pieces weighed around 300 pounds a piece that we both worked as a team to haul a quarter mile or so back to our house. A lot of hard work but it part of what we do to earn enough money where we both can stay home with the kids. Sometimes the kids can even help to earn a few dollars themselves but this time involved way too heavy lifting of objects. I am so sore today! But we did turn it in for a nice amount of money this week so it’s all good! I love how healthy I feel doing hard physical labor.
With the cooler weather upon us we have been going for plenty of walks again too. This has been nice as I always feel best when I am active. The headaches have finally gone away which is helping in this area. Hubby seems to still be fighting off the sinus infection but is getting a little better every day.
Of course there also have been the usual amounts of computer use for both kids as well. I was observing our daughter yesterday as she read messages from online friends at Roblox and wrote messages back. Her reading skills seem to be just sky rocketing lately and she was reading and writing in complete sentences. It is amazing how quickly they can learn new words and develop their reading skills. Well I best be off to go collect bugs with my daughter now!
