We watched the third disc to Roots, everyone is really starting to get into the series and was actually sad that it ended and now will have to wait for us to return it to get the fourth. It is funny how wrapped up in the lives of characters you can get when a great story starts to unfold. There are only 3 more to go though and then we can go onto the Roots the Next Generation which will only be 4 DVD’s to watch. The whole family looks forward to receiving them in the mail from Netflix.
I wish I could report we have been really active, but I have been fighting a major headache for over a week now and hubby has been fighting a major sinus infection so neither one of us has been up to doing a whole lot. Our daughter though over the weekend was playing a lot of wolf quest, a simulation game that really imitates in a realistic way the behavior of wolves. She has also spent some time making clothes for her Barbie doll. She really wants to learn how to sew so hopefully this is something we will be able to start soon.
Our son started playing a Roblox game of the Colony based off the show, which is hilarious to me. He has had no interest in watching the show with us until now he is getting involved in the game. Now he is counting down the days where he can watch it with us Tuesday night. It sometimes only takes a simple thing to change their minds or that gives them a reason to have interest in something.
He has also started reading a historical book about the life and times of Dracula. This is about the true historical facts behind the man. It looks to be a fascinating book, one I will most likely read myself as it is a real interesting subject to me. He really does not like to read too many books but if given the right ones he will read them veraciously. After he reads, he always tells me what he read about which I love hearing about. It is a wonderful way to have a one on one discussion and time together.
Our daughter took some time today to light a couple candles, put on soothing music and do her version of meditating. She was very responsible in the lighting of the candles and putting them out again when she felt she was done meditating. She enjoys spending time meditating and for an active child is one thing she does to quiet herself. She also listened to a variety of other music off and on throughout the day as she is really passionate about music and just loves it. She knows the lyrics and sings along to a whole lot more music than I know, that is for sure. Me and hubby were also able to enjoy a really nice after dinner walk with her where she brought a couple leaves home to start a collection of nature items.
I have been going through some of the material we have on hand and coming up with a few ideas for things we can do through the week. Along with some activities I would like to do with them, we will of course be working on the goals each child set at our Friday School Meeting. While nothing is ever set in stone, I like to plan a few things we can do that will introduce them to new things. I do not schedule anything; I just look for inspiration on fun new activities we may be able to do without breaking the bank. I am hoping to get over my headache once and for all as it is not like me at all to not want to do a whole lot. I myself, love to be extremely active and involved in doing things, I really hate being idle, it drives me crazy. I am really curious as to how this year will manifest for us and am starting to really look forward to our journey this year.
