To paraphrase the words of JFK … we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard… and 99ers and the unemployed will pickup the mantle on Wednesday, September 22’ND to let politicians know that they are expected to do the hard things, not the easy ones. 5 ½ million 99ers, joined by another 15 million unemployed will contact their representatives en mass this Wednesday to let them know that there is only one priority at this point in time – the passage of Senate bill S.3706 The Americans Want to Work Act. The message will be simple, sweep this issue under the rug before the mid-term elections at your own peril!
The unemployed are demanding the incumbents to state their positions on this critical subject before we cast our votes in November. The 99ers are resolute in one thing; lack of support by the incumbent on this issue during the last Congressional session before the mid-terms equals a vote for the incumbent’s opponent, period. Failure to show leadership today will cost you your job tomorrow. This is not a threat, it is a promise. A failure to represent me = a vote for your opponent. That is the way it should be, and that is the way it will be.
Those that support the cause of the 99ers and the thousands of unemployed that are joining their ranks every week ask for your support on Wednesday, September 22’ND. We encourage you to contact your representatives, especially your U.S. Senators, and let them know that action on a Tier V and reauthorization of federal unemployment insurance is not only expected, it is demanded! No representative should be allowed to hide behind political party positioning on this crucial subject going into the mid-terms. We demand to know the position of the incumbents on this matter BEFORE we cast our votes! If the incumbent is against passage, then so be it, live by the sword, die by the sword.
A resource for quick access to all Senators phone numbers and websites by state can be found in this link: Senator Contact List. The polls indicate that the American public is in support of these unemployment insurance extensions until the economy improves. The assistance by the majority to voice their concerns alongside the 20+ million 99ers and unemployed, their families, and their neighbors would be greatly appreciated. Please take a small amount of time out of your day on Wednesday, September 22’ND to send a message to our representatives that it is simply un-American to ignore the sufferings of such a huge group of once hard working Americans that find themselves in poverty for no reason of their own.
