At certain points among our hustle and bustle, we have to step back and realize what we are doing to the earth and its creatures. From pollution to extinction, there aren’t too many good excuses for our neglectful and destructful ways. The wild tiger is endangered and will be extinct by 2022 if the downward rate of their population continues its current trend. Can you imagine a world in which your children will not know what a tiger is?
Tigers are such beautiful animals and humans have taken away their natural environments. Cages are no place for these wild beasts. They deserve the freedom that all animals do. Tigers shouldn’t be on earth merely for our entertainment.
Poachers get a lot of money for the tigers that they kill. Tigers are used for their fur and their body parts. Traditional Chinese medicine has made use of the different body parts of tigers for many years. According to Tigers in Crisis.com, Chinese medicine uses many different parts of tigers, such as their claws, teeth, fat, bone, eyeballs, nose, whiskers, brain, penis, bile, nose, and even their feces. They use these tiger parts to cure various ailments ranging from arthritis and convulsions to laziness and pimples.
The world’s population does grow every day, but there are ways that we can maintain and even grow the population of tigers in the world. There are many animal sanctuaries in the countries in which tigers live. One problem, though, is that some sanctuaries are actually game farms where hunters pay large amounts of money to kill exotic animals. This is only done for sport and the killing is entirely senseless. If a hunter is going to kill for food, that’s a completely different situation than killing just for the thrill of it.
The World Wildlife Federation wants to turn around the extinction trend of tigers. They want to double the population by 2022, rather than see it die off. I am hoping to help them in their cause by raising awareness. I do not want to imagine a world without tigers.
