Hold the presses! Tim Allen is trying to get back into television? His eight-year run with ‘Home Improvement’ was exceptional. Every character was different, and everyone had an opportunity for a love-hate fest for any one of them. Come on, admit it, didn’t you feel sorry for Al now and then? He had to save the project time after time, but he was still second best. A lot of reality was created in that show. The kids weren’t perfect, the neighbor was an oddball, and the boss was strange. For some reason, the house was always clean, but maybe that is because the only time anyone was indoors, it was for studying.
At any rate, Allen, who did a good voice for Buzz Lightyear in ‘Toy Story 3’, has suddenly decided he would like to break back into the television limelight again. At age 57, he most likely sees William Shatner and Andy Griffith continuing on shows and retaining their popularity. Perhaps he just misses the feeling of accomplishing something that will be seen for generations to come.
Entertainment Weekly magazine reports he has been speaking with a few writer-producers, including Greg Daniels of ‘Parks & Recreation’ and ‘The Office’, regarding a television part that will put him back on the primetime schedules.
ThirdAge mentions that Allen has done some voice over work for Chevrolet recently. The scuttlebutt is that he may replace Steve Carrell in the NBC hit ‘The Office.’
Ah, speculation. Isn’t it wonderful?
