It can be a real challenge to try, and find the time to get all of the homeschooling done, cleaning done, and the cooking done. There just does not seem to be time to get it all done. There are however some creative, and fun ways to save time when it is time for cooking. Below are some times to cut down the time you spend cooking in the kitchen.
Crock pots are a great way to save you some time in the kitchen. With a crock pot you can just toss in a bunch of food in the pot, and then you just set it and leave it. They now have crock pots that come with a timer. You can easily set the timer and then it will cut itself off when the time is set. What is really nice is that you can end up with some really great tasting slow cooked meals. Even nicer is that you can serve your family their dinner right out of the crock pot, or you can wait until it cools place into containers. Be sure to cook a lot when using a crock pot so that you can freeze half, and serve half. This will take care of meals for several days.
Once a week cooking
Instead of cooking everyday it may be easier to spend one day on the weekend cooking. By cooking all of your meals once a week and freezing them, all you have to do is take them out, and warm them when you are all ready to eat. This will free up your time so that you can focus a lot more on getting your children’s school work done. You will need to sit down and plan out your grocery list first, and then you will need to plan out your meals for each week. For most this takes about an hour to do. Once this is all done you can pick which day you plan on doing your once a week cooking.
Make only three large meals a week
Why make seven meals a week when you only have to make two, or three. The larger the meal that you make the more leftovers you will have at the end of the week. All it takes is a little bit of planning. There are plenty of meals that will last two to three days without you having to cook again until the end of the week. One large meal that comes to mind is lasagna. If you make a big enough meal it can last you and your family and when someone is ready to eat they can easily serve themselves.
