There are some cleaning tasks that are more difficult than others are. There are some cleaning tasks we just hate to do. However, all cleaning tasks should be done at least once in a while whether we like it or not. Dirt will accumulate anywhere and everywhere. For this reason, we must clean everything in our lives once in a while. Here are some tips for those hard to clean areas:
Check your lamp shade. Is it dusty? If it happens to be the type of lamp shade that has crevices in it, it may be extremely dusty. What are you to do to remedy the dust and dirt problem short of throwing out the shades and buying new ones?
Take out your lint roller and begin rolling. For those smaller areas, you will need a small lint roller. If you can’t get into all those crevices, get out your hair blow dryer and gently blow the dirt away from the shade. Make sure you set this on the lowest setting.
If the lamp shade is made from delicate fabric and you have the patience, you can also use a small paint brush to remove the dirt from crevices.
Yes, there are still homes that have an iron in it. There are even people who still use their irons. But how do you clean these when those brown or white mineral deposit begin to develop when you steam iron?
First, wipe the iron’s metal surface with a damped cloth that has been dipped in warm water and a gentle dish detergent such as Dawn. Use a small brush to clean out the vent holes. A toothbrush works perfectly for this. Wipe the metal surface again. Now finish by ironing a clean towel.
If your houseplants aren’t very dirty, simply dust them off by using a feather-duster. If you do this regularly, you won’t have to worry about dusting building up on them.
If there is a lot of dust on your plants, place the plants in your bathtub and gently hose them off. Use lukewarm water, never cold. Now take a soft cloth and wipe off any leaves in which there are still dusty.
If any of your plants have kitchen grease on them, dip your soft cloth in a mixture of warm water and gentle dish detergent (Dawn) and then gently wipe the cloth over each greasy spot and rinse.
Yes, there are many difficult cleaning areas in our homes. But if we try to tackle them one at a time, they won’t seem so difficult.
