Talk with the parents
Talking with the parents is usually the first option that is used by teachers. Unfortunately this does not always help. Many parents feel that their schedules are too busy to spend time correcting their children. Many parents feel that it is up to the teachers to get their children to behave. Prior to speaking with the parents it is a good idea to write out any of the issues that you may have had. Having documented proof of everything that happens can really prove to be helpful.

If after talking with the parents you have gotten nowhere and the behavior is still bad, talking to the principle may help. Some teachers feel that it is best to speak with the principle prior to speaking with the parents. Some children misbehave simply because they have never been taught. At home prior to starting school many young children are allowed to run wild. This same behavior is then brought to school. If a child is still acting up in class there has to be consequences for their actions. This can mean extra classwork, homework, or less recess time. This may help children learn to be accountable for their actions.
