For some time, Todd Triplett has been trying to open up a mixed-use performance space in Brooklyn. He’d lost out to a space in Fort Green to eminent domain and he appeared to be on the ropes but apparently, now Free Candy is closer to coming to Clinton Hill than ever before.
As reported of his press release on thebeautifulstruggler.com (1) Free Candy is a “mixed-used music venue, arts space, and dance studio in Clinton Hill…featuring live music, film, dance, visual art and theatrical performances.”
Triplett imagines Free Candy to be “a place where anything is possible; where hidden talent will let us in on their amazing secrets; where local artists can showcase their vision for the world as only they see it; and where established acts get to cook up new recipes and share them…”
While the verbiage from his press release is strong and convincing, it also takes a green grease to make the wheels turn. Just talked up on thebeautifulstruggler.com (2) is Triplett’s answer to this problem. There will be a fundraiser on Sunday September 26th at 310 Bowery in Manhattan from 7-11PM.
Free Candy isn’t going to stop with this one fundraiser though, you can be sure of that. If you’d like to support the arts in Clinton Hill but you can’t make it to the event on the 26th, head on over to freecandy.tv (3) and make a donation.
