I love watching movies and I have a large collection of Blu-Rays and DVDs. One of my favorite things about going the movies is watching the preiviews that are shown before movies. Sometimes you get lucky and see special preveiws that were placed in front of the movie as a special promotion and sometimes you just see trailers of movies that you didn’t know were coming out but got intrested in after seeing it. Below I have a list of my top ten trailers and I have to say it was a lot harder than it sounded.
10. Reservoir Dogs”
Reservoir Dogs is about six criminals who are hired to pull off a simple jewlery heist. After the heist goes terribly wrong, they quickly begin turning on each other suspecting one may be a police informant.
Part of the reason I like this trailer is the mix of both dialog and action. They don’t only show you clips of shooting and car chases, they also incorperating dialog into the trailer. For those who have seen the film, or are fans of Quentin Tarantino, you know that his movies are not just driven by action but are driven very much so by scenes of dialog. It also doesn’t give too much of the story to the audiance in the clips they show, except the longer shoot out scenes they show. I also enjoy the song that they play in the trailer because it fits in to the feel of the trailer and it also is part of a famous scene from the film. If ou haven’t seen Reservoir Dogs then you should go out and buy it or rent it because it’s truely a great film with great actors.

U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels is sent to Shutter Island, an island he’s been pursuing for personal reasons, to investigate a disapperance. As the case unfolds and evidence is withheld, Teddy starts to think he was brought there for other reasons. After a storm hits and free’s some of the paitients the clues he finds start leading him down a road of disbelief. As the investigation continues Teddy is forced to start start thinking about if it’s all real or not.
The main thing about this trailer is that I find it to be suspenseful. You get the gist of whats going on in the movie but it leaves you with questions that you want to know the answers to. Having seen the movie ,and looking back now on the trailer, it doesn’t give anything away pertaining to the plot of the movie. I like these types of trailers because they spark the curiosity in the viewer. From my experence of seeing the trailer it was the reason that made me see the film.

Buddy “Aces” Isreal is a big name Las Vegas performer with connections to very powerful people. All is well until mob boss Primo Sparazza puts a hefty $1 million dollar bounty out for Buddy’s head. With news of this spreading the two FBI agents monitering the mob are now forced to travel to Lake Tahoe to bring Buddy in. The only problem is that some of the top hitmen in the world are all heading to Lake Tahoe for the same reason, kill Buddy Isreal.
First off I like that the trailor sets up a basic idea of the story and even shows you a bit of the hitmen. What really drives me to this trailer though is all the action. I love the music paired up with all the action shots because they fit each other perfectly. I also like that the music pauses for that one scene and then kicks back in perfectly, it shows that it was well editied. I think one of the best moments of the trailer is the last little exchange between Alicia Keys and The Tremor Brothers because it shows the humorous side of the movie.
Written and Directed by Joe Carnahan
Starring- Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, Alicia Keys, Ray Liotta, Jason Bateman ,Jeremy Piven and Ryan Reynolds
7.The Elephant Man
This movie was based on the true story of Joseph Merrick who was a severly deformed man in the 19th century. When discovered by a victorian surgen at a freak show he vows to help the elephant man get back the humanity he once lost.
I chose this trailer because it took hold of me after I watched it. Not only did it make me want to go out and rent the movie, but it makde me feel emotion. The trailer is very sad and makes you feel extremely bad for this man even though you havn’t seen the movie yet. It’s also great that they don’t show the elephant man’s face because it does draw you in as a veiwer. It’s an intense trailer because the clips they show are mostly the emotions of people around the elephant man or the way they feel about him and it really pulls you in.

6.Trick ‘r Treat
Trick r’ treat is a Creepshow -esq movie about four different stories that entertwine with each other on halloween. A principle reveals his dark secret, A quest of a virgin looking for love takes a horrible turn , a group of high schoolers play a horrible trick and an old man is visted by the skeletons in his closet.
This trailer has a combination of great images with unnerving sound effects. I like the effect of showing the digital comic book pages inbetween some of the scenes because this movie actually does play out like a comic book. The other thing I like is that you can see through the short clips they show that the movie really has everything you could want in a halloween themed movie.
Written and Directed by Michael Dougherty
Starring- Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin and Brain Cox
Four strangers who meet up on their journey’s through Zombie infested america are forced to deal with the worst dillema yet: each other.
This trailer is awesome in my eyes. The narrator speaking over the clips is funny and thats good because the movie is a horror/comedy. It does a great job having both humorous and action packed scenes teamed up with the always awesome Van Halen. You can really see that the movie shows that it isn’t meant to be taken as a strict horro film. There’s a lot that you can laugh about when you watch this movie and some of those scenes are in this trailer. I also love the slow motion effect that they use during the running and zombie attack scenes, it gives the clips a little extra.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer
Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick

A deep space mining ship is sent to investigate an SOS call on a distant planet. Upon searching the ship they run into some strange creatures and must fight to survive.
This trailer was chosen because it made me feel completly uneasy. It starts off with you traviling through space and then goes in between showing the ground and an egg. Theres a slight sound in the background but your focus is mainly on this egg that we keep getting different shots of. Then the egg cracks and a light shines out leading to the start of various clips. These frantic clips are occopanied by strange high pitch noises and what sounds like a heart beat. Then choas brakes out and your left with a ship floating towards a planet and the words “In space no one can hear you scream.”. The trailers designed to make you feel completly uncomfortable and it does that with ease. It is the most uncomfortable trailer I have ever watched.

3.Back to the Future
After being sent to the past Marty Mcfly accidentally keeps his parents from falling in love and triggers a castostrpic change to the future leaving him stranded. Now Marty must change the past to get himself back to the future.
This trailer was picked because its just so perfectly simple. They give nothing away to the audicence and thats great. I also love the shots of the inside of the time machine because they look awesome. My favorite part has to be at the dialog at the end of the trailer followed by the theme song and the great clip of the flaming tire marks. Which is a great image in general with the flaming tire marks and the sunset. It’s a great trailer for a great movie.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis

A rag doll that awakens to a post-apocaliptic future holds the key to humanity’s salvation.
This made my top ten list because I loved the graphics that they use and I love the world that he wakes up to in the start of the trailer. One of the main things that I love about the trailer is the Coheed and Cambria song that use to occompany the trailer. It is the perfect song to play for a trailer to what seems like an epic of an adventure.

Luke Skywalker, a jedi in training, teams up with the rebel forces and fights to get back Princess Leia from the evil clutches of Darth Vader.
This is one of my faovrite movies of all time. The trailer is on my list because the movie is amazing and because a lot of the technology used to make this movie were created for this movie and are still used today. This trailer was great because it was clips of space battles and strange creatures and robots. It was all around intresting and it gave a little bit of the story through narrating to try to hook on the veiwers. My favorite part of the trailer is the logo exploding at end of the trailer.
Written and Directed by George Lucas
Strarring- Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing and Alec Guinness
