If you’ve ever had a headache you know exactly how difficult they can be. You might be in the middle of a word day or fixing dinner for your family.You don’t have time for a migraine. They can cripple you quicker than you can snap your fingers and really nock you off your feet.
What is a Migraine?
According to Medical News Today, a migraine is a severe headache that can cause you to feel nausea, tingling, flashes of light, or even vomiting. A severe migraine can really nock you off your feet. If you’ve had a migraine, you understand completely how dibilitating they can be. Although there are many medications you can take for migraines, often if you catch the headache in time, you can stop the headache before it begins. This usually takes time to understand the signs that come with migraines. unfortunately, there are sometimes when you don’t get a warning before the severity of a migraine hits. In these cases, use some of our tips and home remedies to help you through the migraine.
What Causes Migraines?
This is that question everyone wants an answer to. When you are busy with life, the last thing you want or need is a severe headache. Lets look at some of the reasons you could get a migraine. Understanding these can help you learn what to avoid.
Stress or tension
Bright lights (avoid if you already have a migraine)

The menstrual cycle
Eat chocolate or drinking caffeine
These are just a few triggers that can cause headaches. We all can look at this list and see one or two things that probably have given us a headache. The important thing to note is that if you are in a hectic situation, take time to massage your head, drink some calming tea, or take medicine to stop the headaches before they come.
Migraine Signs and Triggers
For me, I always know hours before my severe headaches come. I can feel the tension in my neck. Start listening to your body to see if you have signals to alert you to a coming migraine. This can be the difference between a full-blown migraine and a simple headache that goes as quick as it came.
Top 20 Remedies for Migraines
Use Tea Tree Oil and massage into tensed muscles. The oil helps you hands massage into the skin and will not only feel good but will really relieve the tension and migraine.
Take Vitamin B12 every day. Having a lack of this vitamin in your body can trigger a migraine. Stop the migraines beforehand!
Avoid caffeine drinks. Drink diet or caffeine tea. Add water to your diet for a migraine-free lifestyle.
Use vinegar for migraine relief for pregnant women. If you can’t take anything strong, soke a washrag in vinegar and lay the washcloth on the part of head that hurts the worst. Allow the vinegar to seep into your skin. Allow up to 30 minutes for best results.
Drink hot tea when you feel a migraine coming. First, you want to relax your body. First drink the hot tea and allow your body to relax further. Migraines tense your body. If you can relax, the hot tea will do the rest. When you make the hot tea, add honey for best results. Chamomile tea or Mint tea works wonders!
Take a hot shower and let the hot water penetrate into your neck. Stay in the shower for as long as you need. The more the hot water penetrated into your neck, the more pressure will be relieved. Repeat the showers as often as needed. This is one migraine home remedy I use all the time. If I feel a headache coming, I take a hot shower. The relief is quick.
Take a bath in Hydrogen Peroxide. Hydrogen Peroxide acts like a detox for our bodies. When you take a bath in the Hydrogen Peroxide bath, your body detoxes which takes away the headache. I usually add a little lavender to the water so it smells great. Other than that, I just sit in the hot water and let the Hydrogen Peroxide do its magic. After this bath, you will feel less pressure on your head.
Avoid smoking and Alcohol. Caffeine should also be avoided if you have a migraine.
Take a heating pad, and lay in a dark room. The heating pad will relieve pressures and reduce the migraine.
Take vitamins every day for best results. Vitamins will help you stay healthy and migraine-free.
Eat a well-balanced diet.
A cabbage compress can relieve the pressure of the migraine. Just take several cabbage leaves and make a compress and lay on your head.

Have someone apply pressure to the tensed areas of your head and neck. When they apply pressure, it will actually relieve pressure. This is one of my favorite ways to relieve migraines because it always works!
Many people suggest drinking a Caffeine drink plus chocolate. It acts like a jolt to your system. Kinda like a BAM!
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids every day.
Apply an ice bag to your neck. There is a numbing affect that occurs that will relieve the migraine.
Take deep breaths. Every time you feel a migraine coming, begin taking long, slow breaths. The more relaxed you feel, the better your changes for your migraine to go away. As you take deep breaths, allow all the tension to flow out of your body. Try to not think about any one thing.
As soon as I feel a migraine coming, I will drink hot tea, get a head massage, and start taking ibuprofen.
Remember that migraines can be overcome. Keep trying remedies till you find the one that works for you. Each remedy helps different people. They key is finding the one that will relieve your migraine. Don’t give up!
