The 2010/2011 season has been full of disappointments, injuries, and pleasant surprises. Although disappointments and negative stories are spread constantly by the media, some of the pleasant surprises are greatly overlooked. This article will give insight into some of the best moments of the 2010/2011 NFL season thus far.
No. 1: The St. Louis Rams season
Sam Bradford has been great so far. The Rams drafted him number one overall in the 2009 Draft and unlike so many recent number one picks, Bradford has produced. Not only has he led to the Rams to several wins this far, but he has shown great leadership and determination and will be fun to watch in future seasons. He may by the reason the Rams become playoff contenders within the next few years.
No. 2: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers season
The Bucs have shown that they can contend in the NFC. Josh Freeman has been wonderful and is proving he can play at a high level in the NFL. Gerald Mccoy, the Bucs first round pick in 2009 has been good so far and has been a major part of Tampa Bay’s solid defense. Mike Williams has shown the skills that got him drafted high and Kellen Winslow has been productive when he has been healthy. The Bucs only need a couple of more pieces and the puzzle will be complete.
No. 3: Michael Vick’s return to domination
Michael Vick has been nothing short of spectacular this season. He has not only shown the electrifying plays that made him so fun to watch before his arrest, but he has proved that he has matured and can stand in the pocket and throw the ball as well. There is a not a more lethal quarterback in the league and if Vick can stay healthy (which isn’t easy to do with his playing style) he can lead the Eagles to the playoffs and possible farther.
No. 4: The Kansas City Chiefs season
The Chiefs have been great. Todd Haley has done an outstanding job of bringing this team back to a high playing level that they haven’t been at since the early 2000’s. The offense has a solid running game and rookie tight end Tony Meoki has been very Tony-Gonzalez like. The defense is the big surprise. They have played as well as any defense in the league. Brandon Flowers is developing into one of the best corners in the league and Tamba Hali has been a monster so far. The Chiefs have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs in a weak division.
No. 5: The return of Ladainian Tomlinson
LT is running better than he has in several years. He has the competitive edge back that once made him the best running back in the league. Not only did Tomlinson take Shonn Greene’s starting position but he has dominated the league ever since getting the starting nod. The Jets got a steal in Tomlinson, who may make his first pro bowl in several years.
