There are many ways to meet a potential mate, a few of the popular ones being through friends, family or at a bar. I met my fiance via my best friend, who wanted to us to hang out with him at our favorite bar one night. So technically, I both met him via my friend AND at a bar, so my situation is pretty typical. How did you meet your spouse, and what are the top 5 ways that people meet their spouses in the United States?

Since I met my fiance at a bar hanging out with my best friend, I say that I fall into the “activities with friends” category at 8%. Likewise, my fiance in the same category for his age group is the same percentage, which I thought was cool. It’s also interesting how different age groups meet their significant others in different ways. I was very surprised that my fiance’s age group is more likely to meet their significant other at a bar than mine. I was also not surprised in the least to find out that most people my age meet via school.
Who are the online daters? According to the survey, it’s the “Gen X” age bracket, at 4% responsibility for how they meet their current significant others. The least popular way for all people to meet their current spouses or relationship is a dating service that is not online, at 1% or less for everybody from 18- 59+.
