5. Sam Cassell: 2,269 assists
Former All-Star point guard Sam Cassell ranks fifth among the Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assist leaders. Cassell played the best basketball of his career in his four-year stint as Milwaukee’s floor general from 1999 to 2003. In his first season with the Bucks, he averaged a career-high 9.0 assists per game and set the team’s single-season record with 729 assists. In 313 games with Milwaukee, Cassell averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per contest.
4. Quinn Buckner: 2,391 assists
Quinn Buckner manned the point from 1976 to 1982 to become one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assist leaders. Buckner was a pure defensive player, earning four All-Defensive honors in six years with the Bucks. He put together averages of 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game for the duration of his tenure. He left his biggest mark in the steals category with 1,042 which remains the Bucks’ franchise record.
3. Brian Winters: 2,479 assists
Two-time All-Star guard Brian Winters ranks third on the list of Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assist leaders. Primarily a scorer, Winters averaged more than four assists per game six times in eight tries with the Bucks. He posted overall averages of 16.7 points, 4.3 assists, and 1.2 steals in 582 games in Milwaukee.
2. Sidney Moncrief: 2,689 assists
Former defensive stopper Sidney Moncrief ranks second on the Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assist leaders list. Moncrief was a great shooting guard on both ends of the floor, averaging 20-plus points per game four times while twice earning the title of NBA Defensive Player of the Year. The five-time All-Star averaged 16.7 points 5.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in ten seasons with the Bucks, reaching a career-high 5.2 assists per game in 1984-85.
1. Paul Pressey: 3,272 assists
The Milwaukee Bucks’ all-time assist leader is former top defensive guard Paul Pressey. Pressey spent his first eight NBA seasons in Milwaukee from 1982 to 1990. He spent five full years as the team’s starting point guard, averaging better than seven assists per game in three of them. The three-time All-Defensive honoree notched averages of 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists with the Bucks. Pressey has spent the last decade as an assistant coach in the NBA.
