In recent wrestling news, both Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Roy “Big Country” Nelson have expressed interest in joining and wrestling for the WWE in the future. Both Jackson and Nelson are two of UFC’s bigger stars and in the last couple of days, both have been talking about a future career in the professional wrestling business.
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson recently made his comments about wrestling in an interview conducted by Ariel Helwani on November 18th. Jackson has said that he has always been a huge lifelong WWE and wrestling fan and that he would definitely of became a professional wrestler, if the MMA thing didn’t work out for him. Rampage is still open to wrestling after he retires from Mixed Martial Arts and something he would like to do more of, along with acting. Jackson was opposed to wrestling in WWE’s travel schedule full time, where wrestlers travel and wrestle for more than 300 days a year, but would take part in the occasional angle.
Jackson has appeared in a WWE wrestling ring before, co-hosting an episode of Monday Night Raw on June 7th of this year, with his A-Team co-stars Bradley Cooper and Sharto Copley. In the episode, Jackson was playing the character B. A. Baracus, the same character he played in the movie. In the interview, Jackson talked about how stepping into a WWE ring was a dream come true for him and meeting all the superstars he watches on TV as being “really cool people.” He also talked about how The Big Show taught him how to do the chokeslam and also mentioned how cool Ted DiBiase was. He added that he would definitely come back if they wanted him there. Jackson is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
Roy “Big Country” Nelson, on the other hand, does not have any experience in the wrestling business, but has also expressed great interest in the WWE. At the moment, Nelson is in a tough situation, being signed by the UFC but signing another contract deal with another promotion. Nelson took to his twitter account to call out such WWE Superstars as The Undertaker, and has also posted tweets about the upcoming Royal Rumble event that is scheduled to take place in January of next year.
Nelson is the first and only International Fight League Heavyweight Champion, and the winner of the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, the heavyweight version. Nelson lost his most recent UFC fight in August and does not have a great physique, but is very quick for a man his size. For a WWE comparison, he is very similar to Husky Harris, the man who is “an Army tank with a Ferrari engine.”
