My husband’s birthday was last week and we had our usual family celebration dinner. For it, my son-in-law grilled hamburgers and chicken. He also made fresh salsa out of the contents of his garden.
My daughter cut up fresh veggies and made baked beans. She also put out various types of dips and Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips.
Out of everything on the table, I could not stop eating the tortilla chips. That hint of lime flavor mixed with Wes’s fresh salsa was out of this world good.
I love that Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips are made from whole grain. That way, I won’t feel like too much of a cheat if I indulge in them from time to time, which I’m certain is exactly what I’ll choose to do.
There is a lot to like about this chip besides the amazing taste and whole grain goodness. For example, a serving size of one ounce is only 150 calories. Most chip snacks are much higher than that.
Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips contain no cholesterol, which is another positive. They also have some nutritional value, providing 2 grams of protein and 1 gram of fiber. Additionally, these scrumptious chips provide 6% of the daily-recommended amount of phosphorus, 4% of the needed vitamin B6, calcium and iron and 2% of the required niacin.
On the flip side; however, 70 grams of the 150 calories inside these chips are fat-related. There are also 8 grams of fat per serving. Of that amount, 1 gram comes from saturated fat. Additionally, there are 18 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of sugar and 160 micrograms of salt included in Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips.
Ingredients include cornstarch, dry buttermilk, lime juice, lime oil, soybean oil, sour cream, sunflower oil, sugar, vegetable oil and whole white corn. It also contains artificial color, citric acid, dextrose, dry arabic, glycerol, maltodextrin, monsodium glutamate, sodium diacetate,
The taste of these chips is light and airy but with a little kick of refreshing lime. They may have officially become my favorite tortilla chip.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 5 stars. Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips are hard to describe. They are crispy, yet airy; full of taste and yet amazingly light. They are also refreshing and invigorating.
Freshness: 5 stars. These chips are bagged to remain air free in order to keep the freshness in and the moisture out. Frito-Lay, which makes this brand of chips, usually knows how to keep their product fresh from the first to the last bite. They put that knowledge into good practice here.
Variety: 5 stars. If Lime Tostitos aren’t right for you, the brand has several other chip options to choose from. These include Baked Tostitos Tortilla Chips, Blue Corn Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips, Crispy Round Tortilla Chips, Dipping Strip Tortilla Chips, Multigrain Tortilla Chips, Natural Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips, Plain Bite Size Rounds Tortilla Chips, Plain Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips, Plain Scoops Tortilla Chips and Scoops Jalapeno Flavored Tortilla Chips.
Reputation: 5 stars. Tostitos are a brand within the Frito-Lay company, which is the premier company when it comes to all things corn related. Their reputation is excellent because their products are always outstanding and their freshness is second to none.
Nutrition: 3 stars. While chips certainly aren’t the best snack food for you, if you are going to eat them, whole grain tortilla chips are at least a good option. True, Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips are high in carbs and salt, but they have no cholesterol. They also provide some valuable vitamins and nutrients. It’s a trade off that each individual has to determine if it is right for them.
Packaging: 5 stars. Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips come in a bag with blue and green accent. The Tostitos logo in yellow, orange and black is prominently displayed at the top of the bag. A clear panel in the center of the bag affords the consumer a look at the product they are purchasing. All in all, this packaging is bright, attractive, and easy to locate on the store shelf.
Ease of storage: 5 stars. Chip bags are notoriously difficult to store and this one is no different. However, with the use of a chip clip, the bag can be folded down for easier storage inside a kitchen cabinet or pantry.
Availability: 5 stars. Tostitos should be available wherever Frito-Lay chips are sold. That would include most major grocery store chains as well as discount department stores with a large food selection. Additionally, Tostitos are often sold in drug stores with a snack section and in some convenience stores as well.
Price: 5 stars. These chips cost about the same as their competitors at around $3 for a large bag. Frito-Lay products are often on sale and the company also offers a lot of coupons to make their products more affordable to mainstream American.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. While I don’t always have chips in my kitchen pantry, when I do, you can rest assured that Tostitos Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips will be among them.
