Looking for a toy that my 6 year old could play in the car during a long car ride, I opted to get him theV-Tech Toy Story 3 Buzz Lightyear Learn and Go hand held learning toy. This is a little hand held learning toy.
The toy features Buzz Lightyear’s head atop a body that looks a lot kike a calculator with a big screen on it. Instead of numbers however the buttons are made up of letters of the alphabet.
The toy has a screen that allows kids to play with it and Buzz’s voice is in the background guiding the kids and cheering them on. The toy helps to teach letters, vocabulary, spelling, logic, and a little bit of Spanish as well. Since Buzz does talk Spanish in the movie Toy Story 3.
There are 4 categories buttons that activate different kinds of activities they are: Puzzles, games, words, and alphabet.
The toy is small enough to be used as a hand held game even for little hands but the buttons are still large enough for your children to be able to use them.
The goy comes with 3 AA batteries. We have had the toy about 9 months now and the original batteries are still going strong. It has an automatic shut off so it shut itself off once the child has not been playing with it for several minutes, and this helps to save the batteries life.
The keyboard is set up the same as the keyboard on a typewriter or computer, this is called a Qwerty key board. So if a child is familiar with computer keyboards they will be able to use this easily. It will also help kids to better learn how the letters are set up on the computer.
A very nice this about this toy is that it only cost $14.99 which is a really good price for this type of educational toy.
The only problem I have with it is sometimes my son will get an answer wrong or intentionally push the wrong buttons and Buzz will congratulate him on a good job, so there is a bit of programming flaw there.
My son really likes this toy. It kept him busy for a long time on a very long car trip and I am thankful for that. It would be nice if it had come with some sort of headphones so he could have enjoyed it without the rest of us hearing it, but it was not all that loud and most of the time it didn’t bother anyone, occasionally it did but most of the time it was fine.
The toy is recommended for kids from 4 to 6.
I do recommend the V-Tech Toy Story 3 Buzz Lightyear Learn & Go.
