Born out of a desire to keep neighborhood children safe while still allowing them to roam the streets on Halloween night, the 17th Annual Halloween Walk in Clinton Hill will be taking place – when else? – on the night of October 31st. The entire neighborhood takes enthusiastic part, though it’s the Society For Clinton Hill that is officially sponsoring the walk. The Children’s Halloween Walk has been around longer than the young participants it is designed for and is still going strong. It continues to grow every year and is looked forward to by many local families.
The walk, which starts on the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Hall Street in Brooklyn at five o’clock, is open to all kids under the age of thirteen though parents must accompany them on the route. A map will be provided to junior witches and monsters, helping them select the best candy houses and spooktastic decorations. In past years there has also been performances, including at the 313 Clinton Avenue House which has become locally known for its Halloween spirit and creative shows.
