Two Ferndale men are behind bars tonight after a raid on their home by the Oakland Country Sheriff’s Narcotic Enforcement team. The raid was spurred by tips that were provided by concerned neighbors in the 200 block of East Bennett; it took place on November 3 around 6pm, after police obtained a search warrant for the premises.
Larry Broadnax and Isacc Sheppard, both 30, have been charged with delivery and manufacture of crack cocaine. The felony charge could put the men in prison for up to 20 years. Broadnax was arrested during a traffic stop near his home; he’s being held on a $10,000 bond. Sheppard fled from officers after being tipped off about the raid. He led them on a high-speed chase into Detroit. After fleeing on foot, he was found in a backyard on Klinger Street. The chase netted him an additional charge of fleeing and eluding; he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
During the raid, officers discovered ten ounces of crack cocaine and $10,000 in cash. An additional $24,000 in cash was found in Sheppard’s Chevy Blazer. The two men were charged in Ferndale 43rd District Court on November 5; they are due back in court for a pre-exam conference on November 10.
