After weeks of searching and returning curtains to the store because I was not happy with how they looked in my dining room, I finally found the perfect drapery style curtains.
These curtains hang on my french style patio doors, on thick silver rods. The curtains do have the loops along the top back for hanging drapery style, but I decided I liked the look that clip rings gave me, and I found some very inexpensive clip rings at my local Bed Bath & Beyond store.
The clip rings I purchased are made my Umbra, and are called Clinch Drapery Clip Rings. They were available in black, gold and silver, I obviously purchased the silver to match my curtain rod. To be honest, the main reason I made this purchase was because the store had these on clearance for half off the normal retail price of $8.99. The next time I was in the store they were marked down to 75% off!
Some clip rings are very narrow and don’t really make a dramatic statement in a room, but these Umbra Clinch Drapery Clip Rings definitely do. They are large and thick, with a very chunky look. They look like they are made of some sort of metal, but the package states that they are made of cast resin, which has been painted. No wonder they are so lightweight! If these fat, chunky rings were made of metal, they would be quite heavy, and these are nice and light.
The Umbra Clinch Drapery Clip Rings are pictured hanging on the Umbra drapery rods, but these would most like fit onto any rod. Mine is about 3/4″ in diameter, and there is ample room for these rings to slide onto the rods easily. The bag contained seven clip rings, and at the bottom of each ring there is a swivel hook connected to the clips, which are a jaw style clip with jagged teeth. These teeth firmly grip the fabric of my draperies, and hold them securely in place.
While these Umbra Clinch Drapery Clip Rings add a nice dramatic look to my doors, I do have one complaint about them, and I should have looked the packages over a little better in the store. Two of the 14 clip rings are darker than the rest, and one of them in particular is almost black. I don’t like the fact that they are not completely uniform in color, so this is something to consider when buying a product that is painted resin.
Other than that, I am very happy with this purchase, and elated at the deeply discounted price that I paid for them. They glide easily across my curtain rod, and because they are not metal, there is none of the scritch scratch sound as I pull them open and closed each morning and evening. I am definitely pleased with this purchase and the look they give to my room.
