Anna Chapman, the 28-year-old New York City debutante who got caught spying on the U. S. back in June, seems to have come in from the cold and turned her duplicity into a lucrative venture, posing for the Russian edition of Maxim magazine. And Chapman is keeping in character, or at least the hyperbolic sultry, siren-esque female super spy character, posing in sexy lingerie and even sporting a pistol in three of the Maxim pictures that have “leaked” to the press thus far.
She has definitely come a long way since Facebook. If the Maxim pictures posted by Animal are any indication, the deportee seems to have found no disgrace at home in Mother Russia for operating a bumbling spy ring in America. In fact, she’s become an international celebrity.
The pictures, which will appear in the November edition of Russia’s Maxim, will no doubt lend to the growing mystique of Anna Chapman. She’s pictured in several black two-piece sets, one bright red one-piece (in front of shooting range targets, no less), draped across a red sofa, in a black thong and open-backed gown (giving one a direct view of her distracting spy-related assets), and a topless pose with gun and high heels.
Chapman is not your average “Spy vs. Spy” caricature…
Chapman became famous (infamous?) when she and 10 other Russians living in the United States were discovered attempting to pass along nuclear weapons secrets. Chapman was part of a ring of five couples allegedly placed under “deep cover” to assimilate into American society and eventually ascertain information on American nuclear weaponry to pass along to their superiors in Russia. Chapman, whose maiden name is Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko (Chapman was the name she assumed when she married Englishman Alex Chapman, whom she divorced in 2005) was arrested on June 27, 2010. After pleading guilty to a charge of conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U. S. Attorney General’s Office, she and nine of her suspected co-conspirators were deported on July 8.
In the meantime, however, tabloids and web sites took note of Chapman’s Facebook pictures and other photos taken of her with regard to her real estate business. While the “Illegals Program” and the “Russian Spy Ring” stories became headline news, the more salacious-oriented began concentrating on the young immigrant’s more attractive qualities. Her Facebook pictures soon were everywhere and it didn’t take long until Chapman was being heralded as the stereotypical sexy Russian Spy, more like a character out of an Ian Fleming or Robert Ludlum novel than the more realistic and mundane information hunter she actually was.
Upon her return to Russia, she and her confederates were kept from the media for some time. She reportedly has been feted by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, given full state honors for her involvement in the spy ring, and might even be attempting to sell her story, although there are conflicting rumors regarding the latter. Besides the interview and photo shoot for Maxim (her first ever photo shoot), Chapman was also named as one of Russia’s Hot Maxim 100, a list of Russia’s sexiest women.
Several of the “leaked” pictures of Anna Chapman were posted to AnimalNewYork.com.
