When you look around for new things to add to a dollhouse you’ll find miniatures galore. Sofas, tables and chairs, beds, lamps – there’s no shortage of things you can purchase for a dollhouse. All of those are ordinary things, though. If you want unusual stuff for your dolls you’ll have to shop catalogs and online stores and pay good money! Even then, there are many things you can think of but never find for a dollhouse.
How cheap is a piece of paper? When it comes to dollhouse furnishings you just can’t get much cheaper! Use various paper products to make all sorts of things for your dolls – things you don’t normally find elsewhere. You’ll need to know a little about printing on your home computer but that’s it!
Print a poster online and you can easily frame it or otherwise hang it on a dollhouse wall. Scan, shrink and print tiny calendars, photos of celebrities, pictures of famous places and more. It’s fun to make these tiny accessories that make an ordinary dollhouse an extraordinary one.
Find pictures of maps online and make folded maps for doll cars. Print newspapers, assemble them in layers, fold them and set them in a magazine rack or lay them on a table. Print out a picture of a lap top and lay it on a table or other surface.
It’s easy to print out tablecloths, table runners, wallpaper and borders, paintings and similar items. You can even make paper plates, bowls, cups and pans by printing out these images and cutting them out. Do the same with vases of flowers, statuettes and other home décor pieces.
Make tiny books by cutting a piece of thin cardboard in a rectangular shape. Fold it in half. Pages for the book can be stacked pieces of paper or even a thin Styrofoam square. Glue it to the “binding” of the book. Write on the front of the cardboard with a fine-tip marker or even use a sticker to create the book cover.
Cardboard dollhouses, and other houses which have no furniture yet, can benefit from printout appliances. Print out pictures of a stove, refrigerator, freezer – even cabinets and dressers. These can be taped to the inside walls of dollhouses.
Your doll can have all the comforts of a real person when you get some paper and begin making her new things. She’ll soon have books, wall hangings, place mats, tv’s, lamps and much more! She’ll want for nothing ever again!
