It’s halftime in Knoxville on the fourth Saturday of October. That means only one thing: Alabama, Tennessee’s number one rival since football was invented, is in town. And, with Tennessee hold its own at halftime, you can hear “Rocky Top” miles away from Neyland Stadium!
The second half
So…Alabama comes out with a touch-down so quick that vol fans were left dazed. Tennessee got possession and in one of those classic fourthdown or field goal moments, Dooley chose to go for a 50+ yard field goal. NYET! So, it’s Alabama 20-10 midway through the third quarter.
Boom….I went to the kitchen to get some snacks and came back to find the score 26-10. B-E AGG-RESS-IVE Be Aggressive! Be Aggressive!
The first half
The Tide, defending national champions, were expected to have the vols on ice by now. After all, Tennessee hasn’t been delivering stellar performances this year. And they lost to ranked LSU just a few weeks ago because of a penalty at the last minute. So, vol fans aren’t doing too much celebrating yet.
The team does seem to be working well under quarterback Simms, who never knows if he will start or not. (Let’s face it: Tennessee hasn’t had a good quarterback since that Manning guy and Tee Martin, who lead us to an unbeaten season and a national championship.) But I digress. Soon, I will be talking about the glory days.
Anyway, Tennessee’s last minute field goal sent the teams into the locker rooms with a 13-10 Alabama score. And Tennessee had nothing to lose!
