Upslope Brewing is a small microbrewery that is located on the north end of Boulder along 28th Street in a small industrial park. Upslope celebrated its 2nd anniversary in November with a party at the brewery. It is quite an accomplishment to have survived in today’s economy but in Colorado, the microbrewery business hasn’t reach its saturation point. It goes to show that Coloradan’s love their micro-brewed beer.
In November, Upslope will be releasing their third canned beer, American Brown Ale into production. This ale has a medium brown color with caramel and roasted malt flavors. The brown ale is worth a try for those who love a brown ale. Upslope has two other canned beers, the IPA and the Pale Ale. These beers are a local favorite with many restaurants have them on tap. Last summer, Upslope created a Mexican Style Craft Lager that was on tap at a local restaurant, Centro and Latin Kitchen that is located on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. Upslope can be found at many liquor stores but as of this writing, is only distributed in Colorado.
Upslope has a small taproom but they usually have six great quality beers on tap at anytime. They always have their flagship beers, IPA and Pale Ale on tap. It their small batched beers that that have built their clientele. You can find their Pumpkin beer on tap during the fall season, the pumpkins were from a local farm in Boulder, Munsons Farm and the spices used for this beer were from a local shop, Savory Spice. Shop. Upslope brews a rich and dark Stout that will help warm those winter nights. You can get growlers filled with beer at the taproom along with six-packs of their flagship beers. Growlers are $9.00 initially for beer and bottle then later they can fill for $6.00.
Upslope is also planning on expanding their taproom in a few months with leasing the room next door, the business will be leaving soon. This will double their space and double the business to the taproom.
Chad Pieper, the taproom manager, he has an extensive knowledge of beer from home brewing for many years. He is very friendly and for being the only guy upfront in the taproom, he keeps the beers flowing.
In their 2nd year, Upslope has become a local favorite with fundraising and donations for various organizations. On Wednesdays of each month, Upslope donates proceeds from each pint sold to an charitable cause. In October it was the Community Cycles that is a non-profit organization that collects used bike and use them to teach bicycle mechanics.
