Growing up my birthday was always anticlimactic to say the least. I regretted being born in December. Every one was preparing for the holiday running around singing carols and decorating for the big event and I felt that the effort made for my birthday was a little more than a distraction from what was truly important. It always seemed that I got fewer gifts on my birthday than anyone else. This was my legacy and as an adult I still had hurt feelings about that time of my life. Imagine my dismay when I was informed that my first child was due in the month of December. I was mentioning this to a friend and she said something to me that I was surprised had not occurred to me at all. This time could be different because I was the one in charge. Needless to say that I embraced my role as parent and took the job very seriously but because I was still dealing with my own unresolved pain from childhood I was able o make my sons birthdays a more special time for him. I turned to http://www.videoinvitation.net to help me make it even more special this year.
He is turning six this year and we have already begun discussing what he would like to do for his birthday. He wants a “Star Trek” party. This took a little thinking on my part and I am happy to share with you what the plans for the party has come to so far. Looking into costumes and creative ideas on the Internet I came across http://www.videoinvitation.net and after visiting it I came away with a ton of great ideas that would make this event more special than anyone he had experienced in the past.
First let me explain what I found out about videoinvitation.net and you will better understand the direction of the birthday party. The people that started this website had the idea that a video would make a great way to add that personal touch to an invitation and to that end they have design video invitations packages. The one I chose had video, photo gallery and unlimited emails. The video feature works like this. You make your digital video and upload it to their site and then you can use the email service to send it to as many people as you want. There is a time period that you are paying for so careful planning is necessary.
The Plans for my son’s party are to record video of us dressed in rented star trek uniforms. We will make the invitation in the form of a radio transmission calling for some of the elite members of starfleet to join us for a strategic operation. We will give the “star” date and time for the mission. At regular intervals leading up to the event we are planning to send similar reminder Transmissions. Make it all look very futuristic. I have plans to turn our living room into a bridge with various areas designed to look like different duty stations. The whole thing will be based on an encounter with the “Borg”. I plan to use stills of various scenes of the “borgs” in the photo gallery with captions. If all goes as plan this will be the best party to date.
The party favors and food will also look like it was something from the future. I am using some of the names of items that were prepared on the “Voyager” series. It is going to be a blast and thanks to videoinvitation.net I really believe I can “make it so”.
