Vampires have been admired and loved for generations. Experts believe that society’s fascination with vampires stems from our unconscious desire to live without fear of consequences. Whether this is the reasoning behind our love for all things undead or not, we cannot deny that society squeals at the mention of the vampires listed below!
#7. Dracula/Nosferatu
Undeniably, the most known vampire of all time, Dracula became famous due to Bram Stoker’s novel of the same name. This vampire was loosely based on Vlad the Impaler, who lived in the 1400s and wreaked havoc on innocent victims for the sheer pleasure of it.
#6. Erzsebet Bathory
Not technically a vampire, her fascination with blood makes her as much a part of list as anyone. Erzsebet, also known as Elizabeth, would torture and kill young virgin girls in order to bathe in their blood so she could retain her youthful appearance. Bathory was sentenced to confinement in her castle for her crimes. Four years into her punishment, she died due to natural causes.
#5. Angel
The vampire with a soul who came into popular culture when he first appeared on the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. His popularity grew so much that the CW offered the actor (David Boreanaz) his own series, where Angel moves to LA to fight demons and all things evil in his attempt at redemption during his Angelus days.
#4. Bill Compton
The most popular vampire from the True Blood series and HBO hit. Bill is a vampire with morals and southern charm. Popular for his good looks along with his desire to live among humans instead of against them, the HBO series has definitely helped him reach super-vamp status!
#3. Lestat
The vampire Lestat was made famous by legendary author Ann Rice. In her novels, Rice portrayed Lestat as a bisexual vampire who prefers to drink the blood of evildoers. Lestat has appeared in many of Rice’s novels such as Interview with a Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned.
#2. Alice Cullen
The fun loving, future seeing sister vampire of Stephenie Meyer’s record-breaking Twilight Saga novels. Alice Cullen is the best friend of Bella Swan, the main female character in Meyer’s novels and the sister of Edward, the handsome main male character.
And the Number One Vampire is….
Edward Cullen
Stephenie Meyer has turned the way society views vampires on its heels. Vampires are no longer creatures of the night who lurk around dark places waiting to ravage an unsuspecting victim. Vampires are now perfect sparkling beings who everyone wants to be with. Therefore, it is no surprise that Edward Cullen has topped the list of the most famous vampires of all time. Edward can be considered the perfect man by millions of women. He is kind, protective, rich, sensitive, loving, and caring. What more could a girl ask for? Not to mention that he would rather hurt himself on a daily basis than hurt his love, Bella Swan. The character Edward Cullen has put his actor, Robert Pattinson the hot-list of today’s media plane.
