The latest trailer for the “Harry Potter” movie series made it to the Internet Wednesday and, if you thought the “Harry Potter” series was getting darker, it looks to become darker still. But isn’t that always the way it is before the break of day and the return of light? The last installment of the “Harry Potter” movie franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will premiere on November 19. Well, at least the first part of the last chapter in the story will premiere in November. To see Harry Potter and his band of young wizards finish their cinematic journey, one will have to return to the cinema in July.
The last chapter, “The Deathly Hallows,” is prefaced by the foreboding line: “These are dark times, there is no denying…” When last we saw our heroes, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, Hogwarts’ headmaster Dumbledore had been murdered and, after attending his funeral, the three decided to search out the Horcruxes, the sections of the most evil Voldemoort’s soul and that which makes him immortal, and destroy them. They have discovered one of the Deathly Hallows, the three sacred objects that can be used to destroy Horcruxes. But instead of finding the Deathly Hallows and becoming more powerful, the three friends search for the Horcruxes to destroy them.
Voldemoort, Harry’s mortal enemy, has taken over the Ministry of Magic, so his ascendancy to absolute power and control is almost complete.
The longer it takes them to find and gather the Horcruxes, the stronger Voldermoort becomes. Harry Potter is the last hope the world has to thwart Voldemoort and the coming darkness. And if he and/or his minions find the young wizard before he is strong enough, Harry Potter will surely die.
Harry — with the help of Ron and Hermione — must make certain that does not happen…
The poster for the seventh movie installment in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise sets the tone: “It all ends here.”
Indeed it does…
The first official trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” follows.
